I guess we are all enemies of the Koran, They claim there was no editing or other versions. I am saying we because I agree with you.
The thing is, I find it terribly overused that the Bible was edited. It's not even important to me. There is plenty of non edited material from which to form an accurate Christian faith from.
So I think that a part of the editing we just will never know. Is it long Mark or short Mark, is the story of the woman being stoned true or not? I don't know! But if those were taken out of the Bible, I would still be able to have the same trust in God. John 3 wasn't edited, and neither was Romans 3. With those two chapters I can have a Christian faith.
So I think that the whole debate is rather silly and contrived by those who wish that they could be that one person in history to make Christianity fall.
I don't believe that it will happen, no matter what they say. This is because God gave the Holy Spirit, as it was promised in John 16. I was one of those 'lucky' people to have received it. So the world can kick and moan and patronize Christians over some texts, but I know God, so what are they to me?

The "Bible" became assembled from historical thoughts so as that they does no longer be misplaced or replaced by using the years. some thoughts are actual whilst others are allegorical thoughts to show a lesson including ADAM AND EVE. No-you may know the entire tale, yet for sure we've been around longer than 6000 years. Hebrew texts have been assembled approximately one hundred to a hundred and fifty years B.C. whilst the fashionable christian texts weren't finalized until hundreds of years after the dying of christ. that is a testomony to the hypocracy of the non secular genuine that the extremely some early jewish regulations have been secure even however we dont stick to them, such by way of fact the policies related to nutrition guidance and lady hygeine. The church may well be useful know that those are Mosaic regulations (from Moses) that we don't could desire to stick to from now on. nicely arent all of them ? which contains those approximately being gay? (sorry yet I honestly have a private stake in that one). politics had an element in maximum of it. the main proper ideals on the time have been etched in stone for all time. to Jadore7: inspired by using God is a reasonably obscure endorsement. something inspired Picasso yet that doesnt recommend it isnt open to interpretation.

Apart from the obvious 'Chinese whispers' syndrome of the whole thing being a collection of verbally passed takes for hundreds if not thousands of years. Simple editing is done when a translation takes place and a Hebrew to Greek to English word is misinterpreted, Such as the King James version to which most are familiar and the oft ranted
'I will be with you unto the end of the world'
being sited as, 'Sh!t...Head for the hills the worlds gonna end etc.
Is actually end of the Eon ('Age' or as it was known to be then, and still is, approx 2150 years / 12th of the precession of the Earths orbit) Which is much less scary but not quite as financially motivating in the direction of the church from those head'n for the hills.
Edit. tuberoot. what has the potential for interest in the possible editing of the bible got to do with Christ? He is only in the most recent part of a book that has led to the slaughter of nations who would historically consider, as you appear to, any word in it to be anything but a fact ??
P.S. sorry, meant to put in a ref to 'darwinsfriend' as a 'spot on' for the Constantine reply at the start.

Your question has been answered pretty accurately by darwinsfriend (kudos! I could remember the 'who' but not the 'when'). However for the purposes of debate I would like to add that it states QUITE CLEARLY in the bible that humans are fallible. Therefore the bible is not, and cannot be, the definitive and direct word of god as many people seem to think. People were given free will by god and cannot be 'divinely guided' (this being our major flaw and our biggest asset). Therefore any edits, ommisions or incorrect translations of the bible are purely the will of man.
As has been previously pointed out, much of the apocrypha directly contravened the churches goals of the time and were left out for that reason. The only true knowledge man can have of god is a direct relationship with it. This is the major failure of organised religion, once you set yourself up as the arbiter of gods word on earth, you clearly contradict pretty much everything that the bible says about gods relationship with mortal folk.
I should point out, however, that I am rather agnostic in my beliefs and this is purely my own (flawed) opinion from what I have read of god and his relationship with man.
[edit: @jennifer: damn straight! The story of Lilith is very strong evidence of the political aims of the council of niccea, nice one for bringing it up!]

Who - The Catholic Church
Why -
The various Popes in charge felt some of the material was very controversial.
It did not align with what the Church was trying to achieve at the time.
Was pressured by the ruling monarchs of Britain.
Jweston - The Vatican has admitted to the bible being edited and keeping information censored from its parishoners.
The Fatima Prophecy was kept hidden away until right before the last survivor died.
Geez man, read a history book.

Like leaving out the apocyrapha? There was some kind of panel that voted it out, as non-canonical. And God would have moved those hearts if they were doing something wrong.
We have preserved exactly what the Lord has inspired for us to live by and to be saved by.
Thank you Lord God. Many have been saved and many will continue to be saved till His return.

The bible was edited and put together at The Council Of Nicea headed by the Emperor Constantine.
It was they who decided which books, letters, gospels etc should be included.
I don't believe it's a coincidence that any writings that showed Jesus as more human rather than a deity were left out.
As to why?
Power and control. As simple as that.

There are many reasons the Bible has been edited,. The sum of those reasons have been for control of the masses. But there are many other reasons as well, First off. has anyone ever heard of Lilith? she was recorded in ancient text as the "fisrt wife of Adam". In that text it was said that Lilith and Adam were created as equals . The text say that Adam told Lilith to "Lie down and submit woman" and lilith refused, So Adam asked god to make him another Mate that would do as he wished so god created Eve from the rib of Adam.
The text says that Lilith upon being rejected and replaced, became vengeful and was transformed into a demon who would "forever bedevil mankind and take out her vengence on the children of men"
Now I ask you, Why would this have been taken out of the bible? for one reason only! to make it appear that women were to be subsurbient to men, ....

Why do you make such a claim without citing any evidence or to what you are referring?
Re; The point is you are merely speculating, so you have your opinion nothing more.
