I like Citrus Heights, Carmichael and Fair oaks are good also. The south area is bad, Elk grove gets a lot of the crime from south sac. Natomas is getting pretty ghetto these days also.

Fair Oaks is probablly one of the best to live in since it has a lot of nature around still and it's quiet but it's still only two minutes away from sunrise mall, movie theater, etc. Carmichael is a little bit cheaper then Fair Oaks it's also a very nice place, a little more flatter and less trees then Fair Oaks. Citrus Heights is ok, but only if you don't mind being around traffic. Parts of downtown and natomas and elk grove is the bad areas.

There are a bunch of smaller cities around Sacramento that are nice, depends on what you can afford though! Folsom is nice, but a little pricey. Parts of Fair Oaks are nice. I would avoid anything in South Sac, Rancho Cordova and some parts of downtown.
