The first thing that would happen in a rise in labor costs as employers scramble to find replacement.

This would have three effects:
1. All jobs that could be somehow outsourced overseas will go there. Labor costs are already a huge incentive for outsourcing, just wait until immigrants disappear...
2. Work that can't be outsourced will cost more making the price of those goods and services rise dramatically. If that happens, nobody wins.
3. Some workers can be replaced by machines. This may be the only positive outcome, but it will not help the people who compete with immigrants now.

Low-cost labor is a huge positive economical force. Just look at China and their impressive rates of economic growth...

No such thing as flipping burgers anymore-just popping them in the microwave is hardly back-breaking. How dirty is that? And nobody made illegals come here. If there`s so much whining,then they shouldn`t have come in the first place. There`s a difference between refugees who really appeciate America and then you have illegals who don`t care about nobody-not even to send poor mama back home a couple dollars. There are plenty of teenagers out there looking for jobs out there that would gladly take up work like that. They don't have to compete with the rest of the experienced applicants for jobs. Picking strawberries will help that teenager build a good reputation that will allow him/her to get a better job later. And by the way, the same thing goes for flipping burgers at McDonalds except for the fact that they can understand English and won't mess up my order every friggin' time!

You must be a fool, where I live most of the individuals that flip burgers at McDonald's are black and white American citizens who have family members that have fought or died for this country. Most of the dirty work is not done buy illegals, all races of American do dirty work. In our state I have seen family construction business suffer by illegals with false documents driving down profit margins. Bricklayers, plumbers, roofers, and etc. Illegals don't just take the dirty jobs, they are taking the skilled jobs. There are many legal immigrants in this country that suffer because easy targets for the illegals to steal their identifications and create additional problems for them. I support these legal immigrants.

Teenagers and young adults. People who don't want to get an education. Legal immigrants. I picked fruit as a kid, made quite a bit of money for my age. Also I would like to note that the people who picked fruit faster than any other picker were the Asians not the Mexicans. The Mexicans usually picked on par with the Whites. Thing is that most illegal immigrants work in preparing food for regular restaurants making at least ten an hour tax free. Or they hang drywall for twelve an hour, also tax free. They could work in a meat packing plant under a stolen SS# making minimum fifteen an hour but they pay taxes.

I would say from my experience the people cleaning the toilet in the office building did what was required to come here legally. The people who sneak in are either working at a pretty decent job or sitting on the corner waiting for you to tell them to paint a house. Either way they get paid quite well.

As a resident of Arizona, I can tell you first hand that the propaganda that states "illegals are doing the work Americans won't do" is pure rubbish. Our construction industry is flooded with illegals, displacing card carrying journeymen tradesmen. Smaller manufacturing outlets also employ illegals to avoid paying suitable wages and benefits. Is it racist to witness an invader depressing wages while at the same time expanding the percentage of crime and exhausting taxpayer money with a free education, free medical and YES, housing assistance?
No one begrudges the efforts of a "hard working" individual, but your perspective on this issue is warped and naive.

Those jobs are only low(er) paying because illegals have driven down wages. 20 years ago positions at a meat packing plant had sufficient income to sustain a modern American family. Not today, This is a direct result of illegal immigration.

How about the same set of people that did those jobs BEFORE the illegals flooded in. American teenagers and low-skilled adults.

The reason the jobs pay so low is the abundance of cheap labor and teens were driven out of these markets bit by bit, and yes they still want them but they stopped trying for them as they were constantly told they weren't wanted.

Ag and restaurant jobs aren't a new thing in this country, perhaps you should do a little research on who did what in this country prior to 1985 (the year of the first amnesty)
