Beth, at age 13 you may very well grow a few inches.
It is good that you are active. However, you still weigh a great deal more than you should. I am almost 6 foot tall and at 166 I am in my "healthy" range.
Teenagers should not go on a calorie restricted diet or eating regimen without doctors supervision. Since you are so active that might be an indication that your metabolic rate is low. The most common cause is too little thyroid hormone. A simple blood test can determine if you have this condition.
Meanwhile, try to cut out things like soft drinks; and things made with white flour and high fructose corn syrup.
Eat whole wheat and whole grains
Eat lots of vegetables
and fruits
As a growing girl you need plenty of calcium for your bones and teeth.
Try low fat dairy .... milk, cheese, cottage cheese, and yogurt.
Do not cut out all fats... Remember that things like butter and lard and margarine can impact your life and cause health problems.
Instead eat a few nuts or seeds ... like sunflower seeds to help curb your appetite.
If others in you family are over weight, too, cooking healthy could become a family project.
Healthy eating is much more than carrot sticks and celery I am giving you a "source" on good nutrition.
Keep up the activity/exercise and good luck

Hi,
I've tried so many different diets in the last 10 years that I can say now, they don't work!
A few months ago, I came across a great product for weight loss and like many others I was skeptical about it. But I really wanted to lose weight and I tried it. The results were excellent and I lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I felt fantastic and I dropped another 5 pounds safely. That's why I recommend you check this product at http://www.get2itnow.info where they have a free trial and you only pay 5.49$ shipping and handling.
Good luck!

What does your dr. think? 186 sounds like a lot to me, but you know what my dr. told me? I'd rather have you fit and fat than slender and inactive. So you just keep up that activity, because it's going to keep your heart a tickin'.

You might. It depends on height, though, and how much muscle you have.
Speak with your doctor or a nutritionist and have your BMI-Body Mass Index checked. that tells you how much you should weigh for your height.

I say that if YOU want to loose weight for yourself then go for it. However, take Tyra Bank's approch to haters that want to say bad things about you because of your weight: SO WHAT! Don't worry about what other people think (One exception: your doctor). Whatever you decide to do about your body needs to be for yourself and not to impress other people.
