Major problems as both the iris and the pupil are inside the eye; the only way to touch them is to cut the cornea and stick your finger in. Likely would lose the eye.

However, you can touch the cornea with is the transparent structure through which you can view the pupil and iris. As it has lots of nerve fibers, it would hurt but cause no permanent damage.

You can't really touch the pupil or the iris, except thru surgery. When u touch ur eye, u r either touching the clear portion which is the cornea, or the white portion which is the sclera which is covered by a transparent layer called the conjunctiva. The cornea has nerves so u'll feel the touch. U won't go blind by touching ur eye. For example, in order to wear CL, u have to touch ur eye, but u aren't actually sticking ur fingers "into ur eye". Ur eye might burn but that's it. Just make sure that if u've an infection in one eye, u wouldn't transfer it to the other eye via touching both eyes.

Check out the following link; it'll provide u w/ info about the anatomy of the eye

Agree with previous answers, you can only touch the cornea (clear part) or conjunctiva (clear part overlaying white part.)

To add to the previous answers - don't touch your cornea! Your cornea has a single layer of cells on the outside that keep bacteria out. If you make a small scratch - even if you can't feel it or see it - you might be inviting bacteria in. A bacterial infection in your cornea is NOT COOL and can result in the need for a corneal transplant or even blindness.

I agree with all of them and I add that if you touch your eye with clean hands nothing might happen other than you coud just irritate your eye. But never NEVER touch your eyes with dirty hands as you might infect them with anything and you could get serious infections.

Nothing. There are no nerves in the iris. If you have dirt on your finger your eye may burn but thats it.
