Actually Christians follow Christ. Mary was a Jew. Mary was before the atonement and was under law however women did not cover their heads except in worship service.

The difference with Mary is that she was in the bloodline of David and lived in the right time to be picked by God to conceive Jesus. Which can't be said about all women before or since then.

Mary wasn't a Christian. Why would she be the example of how Christian women should be?

If God thought enough of her to allow her to become the mother of Jesus, she is definitely my idea of someone to look up to.

Christianity is not about rules or even about religion. It is about a personal relationship with Jesus.

Dear, the bible does not teach that it is a headcovering that pleases God. Jesus taught it is what is in the heart that God sees. Mary found favor with God because she was devout and pure and loved Him. We as followers of Jesus desire to do as Jesus asks of us, to do justly and to love mercy.

rolls eyes. shes an example TO christian women not OF them. and its her manor they are to immitate. the demureness, chastity, unconditional love, obedince. that sort of thing. she only dressed the way she did because it was the cultural norm of her society if mary was born in modren times she would dress in jeans and a tee shirt and her hair would flow freely just like most other women. Only men who fear women want to hid them away.
