I've taken the Fungwah between ny and boston at least a dozen times at this point, and sometimes it takes as short at 3 hours, sometimes as long as 8, obviously due to traffic. I'm taking the bus up to boston tomorrow, and i need to be there before 8pm. I hate sitting in traffic, so I'm wondering, when do you think would be the best time to leave so I don't hit the ny traffic leaving or the boston traffic coming in?

I've taken the Fungwah to Boston several times and it was all the smae each time, 5 hours, but traffic could be bad from the 5pm-9pm hours when you're near the city, so get there early to avoid that bump. When I went at 7am, absolutely no traffic, but I'm not so sure you want to get up that early...

You'd have to leave REALLY early. If you leave New York mid day there will be some traffic, but not AS bad, and then you should get into Boston around 4, which will JUST get you under the rush hour there. Granted that will get you there hours before you need to be, but I guess it depends on how you'd rather spend your time- in Boston, or in traffic! LOL (Either that or leave in the morning, after the AM Rush in New York, if you can!)

Leaving from 10am - 12 should avoid the heaviest traffic and leave time to get there in case you get stuck anyway. If you leave later you'll be rollin the dice.

A traffic nightmare is best avoided early in the morning before sunrise, way before sunrise.
