My boyfriend is in the Navy, and I'm in the Army National Guard. If you're trying to get your education, I'd go with the National Guard. He's trying to get a transfer to the Guard right now.
More women join the Navy and Airforce than the Army or Marines. In any case, women are certainly building a place for themselves in the service. Granted, men are still considered the default, but that's changing. I'd say go for it.

I have twenty years in the Navy/Naval Reserve and I love the Navy. There are a lot of capable women serving in the Navy right now.
However, if I were to have a daughter, I would not like her to join the Navy. I was just the experience I had when deployed to Kuwait two years ago. The command I was in had too many people whose treatment of women was in either in bad taste or intolerable in the military service. Only a few of the women behaved badly, including having affairs with married men (including officers).
Not all Navy commands are like that (I hope).

It's a great Idea for some, not for others, just like guys. If you are smart and work hard, you'll do great. You can expect 9 weeks of boot camp, and then assignment in the fleet. There is no sexist type of crap if that's what you mean.
At the first sign of that, you can take action against it. It happens extremely rarely.

I wish I had enlisted young-I could have saved a lot of money on my education. As it was I had a pretty good time, but don't go in expecting it to be easy.

It is a great idea, just make sure to protect yourself, and don't be in a relationship when you go in.
For some reason women have a harder time staying monogamous at sea then guys do.

I believe more females should be in the military. Females are doing alot of the same jobs as men with the exception of combat mos(S). It will change your outlook on life. More females need to be in service.

Its up to you. If you like guys oogling over your attributes, especially while on a boat, where females are few and far between. then go right ahead.
