I have really oily skin and I was wondering what helps. I tried over the counter stuff but it doesn't work well. Also I read oatmeal works, if so what kind. The powder or the oats. What are other things for oily skin.

Wash face & body more frequently (stay dry & not sweating alot) & stay away from greasy foods like Pizza. I use Oxy Maxium strength it works fantastic! Also don't touch your hair & face this also traps oils. Other factors include: stress, chocolate, caffine, & other greasy foods. I have not heard about the oatmeal thing but it would probably get too sticky to take off? Not to mention very messy! I hope this helps! Good luck!

I don't have really clear cut answers for you, but I will say this... do not over-dry your skin with rubbing alcohol etc. Only use mild astringents like witch hazel products. there are many varieties like Mary Kay, Avon, and others that are watched like hell for purity.

If you over-dry your skin to the point that it feels 'taut', your skin will simply move into recovery mode and produce even more oil. You do need some type of moisturizer this also helps balance the oil production.

Also, if you over-use products like clay masks and abrasives, you will end up with even more breakouts.... bad news. Watch out for products that have Retin-A... this is also an irritant for oily skin, and will cause uncontrollable breakouts/eruptions.

On the lighter side, You will become one of the few to look as though you have perpetual youth..... I suffered with an overabundance of oil in my teens and early twenties... Now I am over 40, and look 10-years younger than my peers.... cool.

Good Luck...

Don't try to dry your skin out to make it not oily. Drying your skin out produces MORE oil. Wash with a cleanser appropriate for oil skin, but not too drying. Apply toner with a cotton ball and KEEP SKIN MOISTURIZED so that it does not want to produce more oil- use an oil free moisturizer. You can also use a skin mattifier after doing all of this. Bath and Body Works makes a good Burdock Root mattifier, but you can find mattifiying cremes at your local drug store.

An oily skin , as the name implies, is one in which the sebaceous or oil-producing glands are over active. As surface grease tends to attract dirt, an oily skin acquires a dirty surface film , that needs to be removed daily. For more details log to http://useinfo-oilyskin.blogspot.com/

Tea Tree oil... can be gotten at Walmart, drugstore, or GNC. Cheap. Cleans, disinfects (that's really important) and removes the oil without over-drying. Can be used 2 -3 times a day. Wonderful for pimples, too.

Plain old soap and water. Soap tends to try the skin a tad so I would almost try that. Don't use a fragrance soap, use a glycerin soap. Good Luck.
