I think they are the coolest looking out of any other soldiers.

They have the best looking Uniforms.

I don't want to hear about you not liking them for what ever they did. I frankly don't care what they did.

I want to know what you think of them as soldiers.

truly, all those seen aryans have been alowed, and not in basic terms by using the top of the war, yet basically approximately by using fact the begining. I propose, the Germans weren't stupid, they found out that in the process basically approximately each and every united states they conquered there replaced right into a white minority or majority and particularly a number of them prepared to cooperate. there replaced into even a French SS unit that defended Berlin until eventually the final days of the war. to no longer point out Dutch, Scandinavians, Chechs, Romanians, Hungarians, Italians and Croatans... keep in mind adult adult males, Nazism is risky by using fact their ideals have been particularly attractive. think of you have been undesirable and depressing all your existence and in the present day somebody tellls you you're specific and extra advantageous to all, and invites to connect a good military, it has super charm, for this reason that they had maximum of followers.

They sure looked smart lying in the snow full of Russian bullet holes, mudering fascist robots.

Also Remember the Malmeday Massacre:

the massacre was committed on December 17, 1944 by Kampfgruppe Peiper (part of the 1st SS Panzer Division), a German combat unit, during the Battle of the Bulge.

86 US POW's machine-gunned to death in a field.

This atrocity, as well as others committed by the same unit the same day and on the following days, was the subject of a trial during the Dachau Trials of 1946.

As soldiers I think they were horrid pieces of trash, disgusting individuals who were trained and brainwashed to be mindless killers. As for their uniforms, while impressive, that is not what makes a soldier. The soldier isn't the uniform, it's the person inside.

The uniforms don't matter.

BTW, the Waffen SS were a separate bunch from the "regular" SS and _usually_ did not commit crimes (not more than average in those times)

They were all volunteers, which makes them more motivated and - frankly - better than the average german draftee.

That said, it does not mean they were invincible- in 1939 one of Polish (regular draftee) infantry divisions annihilated the SS "Germania" division in a night bayonnet attack - which led to the dissolution of the SS division (old Adolf was furious). Time, place and motivation seem to be the key factors.

Not the uniforms

WAFFEN SS was the best fighting force the modern world has ever seen.Their skill was so great that they fought well (and with great success rate) even in the late years of war when it was obvious who is going to win.For people who say they are evil, they are totally wrong:WAFFEN SS had nothing to do with mass murders, they were frontline troops and great patriots who defended their fatherland even when all hope had faded.WAFFEN SS had great equipment, great uniforms, great weapons and above all great morale. They proved their efficiency over and over again and I think that after Leonidas's 300 Spartans and Serbian defenders at Cer battle there aren't greater heroes than WAFFEN SS men.

P.S.As for Peiper group, you must keep in mind that they couldn't take any prisoners at that time and that they were in a very hard situation in which they had to act ferociously.

How in hell can you evaluate a soldier without discussing what he did? And what they did is documented not only by their enemies, their victims but by themselves. They were cruel, sadistic, fanatical and in the end disloyal and treacherous. They killed children and other innocents and betrayed every oath they had ever made. When you speak of the Gestapo, regular SS and Waffen SS they were interchangeable. Most of the waffen SS officers did a term in the deathcamps. The one thing you can not say about them was that they were cowards. In the end the fine uniforms covered pieces crap.

the II SS Panzer Corps was the best, they defeated the Red Army at the 3rd Battle of Kharkov, an army that was 7 times its size. The classic divisions, (1st SS LAH and 2nd Das Reich) were used as the 'fire brigade of the German Army.

My Dad told me they were great for target practice!!! When the 317th IR arrived at Buchenwald Camp in April 45 2 Russian Officers(Buchenwald also held 15,000 Russian POWs) volunteered to fight with the US Army and were granted their wish. They were issued uniforms and weapons. They took care of all those "cool" chickenshits hiding out as prisoners and those found along the way to Austria.

Those "cool" brave little boys did everything they could to disguise who and what they really were. They ran from the camps and tossed their uniforms.

So in the end they were just whimpering children.
