I believe a visit of a mountain peak can in deed change ones view of world as a natural phenomenon...It also makes lots of difference whether you achieve your goal by foot instead driving uphill in a car...It is furthermore still better if you go alone rather than in a group, that way you get a chance of seeing more wild animals...

I live in Quebec, not too far from the mountain in NY... I know what you mean! So many wondeful places around here... You should go to the Saguenay Fjord too... (visit Tadoussac, see the whales...)

of course it is! Absolutely gorgeous when you actually stop to look at it. Everyone needs to get out of the city more and experience nature.
