there are clothing stores on Fordham road; you have the gap, jean star, v.i.m. etc. there is also aj wright, pc richards, duane reades, clothing stores for the teenaged crowd, and clothing stores for the younger kids. There is also a 9 west outlet store on Fordham and Kingsbridge.
3rd avenue is in the mott haven section. to get there you can do one of the following:
1. take the bx 2 bus on the Grand concourse to 150th street and 3rd ave (it will leave you across the street from Cookies)
2. take the bx 41 bus on Webster avenue to 150th st and 3rd ave (it will leave you right in front of cookies)
3. take the bx 15 or bx 55 to 3rd ave
4. take the 4 train to 149th st and grand concourse. transfer to the 2 or 5 train uptown to 149th st an 3rd ave

take the D train from herald square. Exit penn sta, walk north to 34st go one block east to 6th ave you will see macy's in front of you go into the subway in front of macy's. buy a metro card from a vending machine (using a debit card will cost an extra $1.50) go downstairs to the uptown platform get on the D train, get off at fordham rd. This will leave you on fordham and the concourse, approximately 40- 45 mins.
