A big fat juicy steak for dinner, a roll in the hay for desert, midnight snack and early morning breakfast snack.

Mostly give him a BIG KISS and hug, tell him that I said

THANK YOU!!!!!

God Bless our troops

Solid foods. Pretty much anything that requires a knife and fork to eat, rather than just a spoon. Also avoid things typically found in MREs. Dress the food up nice and make it flavorful, since military food often looks bland and unappetizing even if its tastes decent enough.

As for surprise? Your husband has been away from you over a year. Take a guess as to what he'd like for dessert.

When my husband came home, I had all his favorite drinks and foods in the house. I set up signs for the trip home so he can see all the welcome signs. I had the family make posters and we hung them up in the house. If you didn't really send birthday or christmas gifts while he was gone, you can have them all waiting on the kitchen table. You can plan a weekend getaway. Or if there was something special he had been dying for like a car or boat, have it waiting in the parking lot for him for when his plane lands.

the steak and beer is fine,, but just remember that after the first few days of being back home. he is going to start getting edgy, and irritable, this is normal as he is going to be trying to adjust to being back in an area were he is not in constant danger. give him his space and time to readjust. don't try to jump right back in to the same routine you had before he left. this will cause him more stress than he will already have try to get use to ya'll again.it takes time so just bare with him and he should come around.also don't try to plan out a whole lot of stuff for him to do,, or for the whole family to do,, he will think you are trying to push him in to it and will resist it,, ask him if he would like to do it,, in stead of telling him you have it already planed out. it is also going to be stressful on you,, as you have had to take care of everything while he was gone,, you are going to get upset hat he is trying to help again,, this normal and part of the readjustment phase of him being back.

HOORAH! Glad to hear he is coming home safe and sound. The best dinner you can serve him is:

My Rosemary Prime Rib. The best chunk of meat a man can get his jaws around!

Start with the best cut of prime rib meat you can get from a good butcher and have him leave a ring of fat on it for the best flavor and make sure it has a good marble. It'll cost around $50.00 for it but it'll be worth it.

Rosemary Prime rib

1-5 lb. Prime rib of beef, see above
1-box of Kosher salt
1-package of fresh rosemary
Pepper to taste--I like a lot of pepper.

Preheat oven to 500 degrees and keep the door closed until ready to place roast in it.

Take about 1.5 Cups of kosher salt and sprinkle it on a cooky sheet sprinkle it liberally with pepper.
Next roll the roast in it on all sides, top and bottom and don't forget to press it into meat, set this on a roasting rack in a large baking pan. Place the rosemary on top of roast, after 15 minutes or til light goes off on oven (indicating it is pre-heated), place roast in oven and close door fast, turn down to 425 degrees leave in for 15 minutes per pound of meat, then
remove promptly. Let rest for 15 minutes and serve with:

Oven roasted potatoes and carrots with some quartered onions. Cut up potatoes into quarters, carrots, cut into halves, onion quartered and a little olive oil.

Serve also with a fresh salad with his favorite dressing. Likely a bleu Cheese dressing and garlic bread.

Present the meal in the buff. He will have a wonderful homecoming. For dessert serve strawberries with Whipped cream and again do it in the buff in bed.

Bon Appetit! And good loving! And happy homecoming to our hero!

And . . . I want to say thank you for sticking in there and being a brave strong spouse to your brave strong hero!

Hmmm,

Actually when I came back from the gulf, I wanted a STEAK.

Then I wanted my gal. Come to think of it though, remembering back on that day, I dont remember the steak all that much, but I remember the workout thoroughly.

Now that troops have been freed up with the end of the Iraq war, America can start a new war with Iran.

Beef that can be cut with a fork. Does not have to be big. I suggest Sammy Adams beer to wash it down.

Followed by a long winters nap....wink wink nod nod
