People with faith are constantly cruelly getting bashed on this site. Maybe atheist should live by a set of guideline on how to treat others (maybe even come up with 10 of them :) )

Science is a belief claiming all facts are currently know but they aren't Maybe God created the DNA strand enabling apes to evolve ... Notice MAYBE we don't know all the facts. remember when people thought the world was flat?!?

The golden rule is the no. 1 rule in the atheist handbook. Rule no. 2 says sarcasm is an exception to rule 1.

or perhaps you shouldn't use such a narrow version of the term ATHEIST. Originally, in greek Atheist merely meant a person that didn't have any SET doctrine or religion. You can be an atheist and STILL have a god form. It wasn't until well into the 19th century that atheist transcended into a new defintion of have NO god.
'Santa' has really only been around since the victorian age.
If you cannot handle the heat, then you might get out of the kitchen---so to speak.
Some people just give back the 'love' christians show them.
Something to keep in mind---out of the abundance in the heart the mouth speaks.

There is some cruelty here, but I think you are overstating the amount of cruelty. If you feel it is cruel for an atheist to challenge you to justify your belief, then perhaps you are insecure or overly sensitive.
I am here because religion has a big effect on the society and culture I live in. In the last 10 years that effect has become especially harmful. The alignment of the Republican Party with conservative Christians has corrupted both the Republicans and the conservative Christians, and been a major factor in the abuse of power by the Bush administration. There have been significant attacks against the teaching of science in public high schools. The separation of church and state has been weakened, endangering the entire constitution that has made this country great. I am here because I believe this has to be resisted at a grass roots level. I know that many people reading this will disagree with me, and my opinions won't influence them. But there is evidence that there are open minded religious people here who are coming to realize that organized religion can be harmful if people lose their ability to think critically about what their religious leaders are telling them.

"People with faith are constantly cruelly getting bashed on this site"
Now you know what it's like for Atheists in US when ...
George HW Bush said: No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God.
Your constitution says y’all have freedom OF religion which also means freedom FROM religion but Atheists are the least trusted of all groups of people in US.

Yeah; right. LOL
Oh, by the way, no one needs an Bronze Age book of mythology to tell us that "Harm None" is about the only rule you need.

1 - I personally do not 'bash' anyones beliefs.
2 - Ill stop answering questions about religion when religious groups stop trying to force their absurd nonsense (such as creationalism) upon the rest of us.
3 - Science is not a belief it is a process - a methodology - a culture of facts - and the explanation of them.
4 - It deeply concerns me that so many people know so little about science yet condem it.

You assume that atheists are better at understanding the sciences and the history of science better than people of faith. That assumption is false. Do a search on alien life, or other life in the universe. You'll see what I mean.

I hate to be the one to break it to you but science isn't a belief system. More specifically, it's not an atheist belief system either.
If someone was interested in debating religion this is the correct place to do it. You don't have to be in your club to discuss it.

those kids aren't bratty...they are educating others about LIES!!!!!!!!! they are only bratty in the eyes of the parents who are trying to pull the wool over their eyes...
p.s. atheists don't *believe* in science...
p.p.s. apparently you don't understand science. if something is discovered to be incorrect, we go back and revise. very few things in science are taken as fact! evolution is a small, small, small, part of science, so stop using it as the only example. you know that box that you're typing on...oh yeah...that's science, not god.
