Here is a list of things that can be lost by believing in gods:

- Sanity
- Freedom
- IQ points
- Advances in technology and medicine
- Your sense of humor
- Friends
- Free time

I think the first few are the most important.

If you believe in your god only because you're afraid you might be wrong, then you don't really believe and if your god exists, he's going to be pissed and make you pay a much higher price than someone who's honest about their disbelief.

I do have something to lose if I believe in your fairy tale, my freedom and my mind. I don't want to lose either just because I might be wrong. Use your brain, not your bible.

Basically - our sanity

Also which god should we believe in? There are so many and every one of them are the real one (or so they claim) yet it is hard to take any of them seriously.

Also belief is not a choice. I cannot just choose to believe.

What do we have to lose? Intellectual honesty.

If you believe in God, fine. But believing "just in case" doesn't make sense. It sounds like your fooling yourself.

Okay, I'll try it.

Hmmmmm, maybe I'll just skip work today, I feel a rapture coming one. Will you pray for me?

just in case? you can't choose to believe in God. Either you do or you don't.

Whats to lose:
-Wasting your life talking and praying to an imaginary friend
-Not taking responsibility for what happens in your life, instead trusting that same friend to make it right
-Horrible wars, extremism, suicide bombings, theocracies, horrible oppression, and faith forced upon people

the list goes on.... shall I name more???

ps - for believers

Either you believe something or you don't. I can't make myself believe in the Tooth Fairy, Santa Clause the Easter Bunny or god

Well think about it. If we Christians are wrong, we just die. That's it. Ohp, we were wrong. You guys... if you're wrong... you're gonna need a lot of sunscreen.
