the only different you never mention a christian man did it. but you will be so excited to say "a muslim man did it". that's how unfair a person can be. Islam, this beautiful religion protects our rights and our women. leave Islam alone, we already know its the true word from our lord.

Oops, sorry, long answer! But please read all of it, I would really appreciate that..plus it is not as long as it seems when you begin to read it. Thanks!

You are totally right! After all, they are not Muslim women who are filling up the Domestic Violence hotlines every day! How come when ONE Muslim woman is seen on TV with a bruise,

1.) It is presumed that she was beaten by some man

2.) It is presumed that she is "oppressed", and if a Muslim woman follows Islam correctly she should NEVER feel oppressed. If she does, then something is wrong, as there should be nothing to make her feel that way.

3.) It is presumed that they are uneducated, deaf blind and dumb

The stereotypes go on and on. The bias media gives these impressions and gives room for people to come up with their own misconceptions and develop their own stereotype, most, if not all which are not true or deeply exaggerated and misleading at the least.

In the rare occasion a Muslim woman happens to be beaten, it will make headlines, and it will be assumed as though this happens all the time. More absurd stereotypes are formed and applied. But for the thousands of women (and men!) who are abused every day who are not Muslim, there wouldn't be enough time to report all of them! Not to mention they are not news worthy. If someone sees something about a beaten Muslim woman, they will want to read it right away to see how much more hate of Islam they can extract from the article. But the truth is that if a Muslim wife is beaten to the extent that is forms bruises or cuts, then the husband is SINNING. Yes, you heard me, he is SINNING! The husband is only to tap his wife to remind her of her wrongdoing, and that is all, actually. If any Muslim man abuses his wife in such a way, he is very well on the path to hell.

Lol, you're so right. People get excited when a Muslim man beats his wife. Because these are the only types of Domestic Abuse you will see in the news or in the newspaper. This is all people see when it comes to Islamic women, so it is all they will believe, making them blind and ignorant.

Muslim husbands are supposed to treat their wives with generosity, respect, love, care, and consideration. If he cannot do this, then he is not fit to be a husband! It's as simple as that. SO if ANY Muslim man goes so far as to his "hitting" being called abuse, then his actions were unislamic.

The ignorance, racism, and bias all come into play as well. People enjoy reading articles that undermine Islam because it will fortify their hate toward Islam, and many of these people LIKE hating Islam.

Thank you for this question. Inshallah all is well with you, peace and good luck!

Women getting severely beaten, abused, raped etc has nothing to do with Islam. In fact, those has nothing to do with any religion that I know of. But human love to stereotype.

I am a Muslim husband and I've been told on how to treat my wife. I was taught by my religious teachers that under Islam, "beating the wife" must be done in strict way not to cause pain but to remind our wife of any wrongdoing. That "beating" must not be harmful, painful or leave any marks and other conditions that I won't mind if my wife want to do same to me 100 times a day. Causing pain to your wife simply means you are committing sin.

My mother is treated with respect, and if I had a sister she too would be cared lovingly.
And Insya Allah, when I have a wife in the coming years, I will never raise my hand to hurt her. She would be my lifetime partner, to comfort me and each other, to love each other, Insya Allah.

Just because what people read today, they make judgement so fast that they are mistaken. Just because women in Afghanistan are forced to wear burqas by the Taliban, they judge Islam as oppressors of women. Just because of the controversy of nuclear program in Iran and it's strict government, the world thinks that women in Iran are badly treated. Just because of these incidents and claims, the world sees women in Islam as second-class.

They are in fact wrong, wrong, wrong. May I ask those who say these things, in which part of the world does rape case happen? In which part of the world are there child porn? In which part of the world is women are treated like sex objects?

Learn, then judge. Think, then act. Learn, then believe.

May Allah S.W.T guide us all.

Assalaamualaykum. I agree. I'm an American Muslim woman married to a Saudi Arabian Muslim and he has only hit me once to show me how he is supposed to punish me in the Qur'an if I disobey him. Other than that he has never hit me and I know my daughters will be treated like princesses when I have children. My husband treats me like a queen. He knows if he ever hit me I'd knock his teeth down his throat and divorce him really fast.

Ummmmm...what about honor killings, women;s rooms, acid attacks, forced marriages, a crazy obsession with sex, jihad, death to non believers, oh yeah, wasn't Mohammed a serial rapist (if my history serves me correctly) and a child molester? Didn't he marry a six year old girl when he was 57? Or do these things just happen on a regular basis in only predominately Muslim countries ruled by deposts and imams?

People react to what they hear and see. If people have preconcieved notions about the religion, it's because they are getting their facts somewhere, it's usually not making it up. So thanks for putting examples of the good things within the religion to make others see the religion from a new perspective:)
