Peanut butter! And they will go crazy for it!
**I adopted a very sick German Shepard and she was taking pills for about 2 months when I got her. She figured out the "sticking the pill in the hot dog" trick, ate the cheese around the pill, and when hidden in her dog food, she managed to eat every crumb off her plate, except for the pill. A vet assistant told me about shoving the pill inside a spoonful of peanut butter. I have used it dozens of times and it works like a charm EVERY time! Its also funny when the PB get stuck on their nose and watching them go crazy trying to lick it off!

I've always used a hot dog. Take the hot dog and cut it into 3 or 4 pieces. Put the pill in the first piece and give it to your dog - but be sure and dangle the second (with no pill) right in front of him. He'll probably swallow the first piece whole just to get to the second one. Hot dogs just slide right down the throat and they're cheap.
By the way, if you only give him the piece with the meds a smart dog will figure it out, chew the hot dog, and spit the pill out. That's why it is so importanat to have that second piece waiting.

Peanut butter can work, but my dog always avoids the pill somehow, bread also works. Just smush the bread around the pills and they should chew it up. But for my dog I hold her mouth open and put the pill on the back of her tongue then hold her mouth shut and she swallows it.

What my brother in law does with his dog he gets a slice of cheese and make a small piece and puts the pill in it and the dog will take it. Or he is get yogart and puts it in the yogart and the dog will take it that way also.

Cheese. It's perfect because it's soft enough to wrap around the pill, dogs love it, and it won't hurt them.
Otherwise, a piece of hot dog will work.

I use a bit of low fat liverwurst and roll the pill in it.
I give it to the dog while holding another small piece in front of his mouth - the dog takes the first piece fast to get the second one too - works well.
You could use low fat cheese too.

Try wraping the pill in a slice of deli meat. Your dog will be so focused on the delicious meat that he/she probably won't even notice the pill.

You don't need to hide pills in food, You open the dog's mouth, put the pill to the back of the throat with his head tilted back, and rub his throat til the pill is gone..

My dog had tummy problems, and I used to dip a Tagamet in some peanut butter and she'd take it right down.
