Yes, drilling holes in a muffler will make it rust out quite a bit faster than it otherwise would. But why would you want to do that to it?

That plus the fact already pointed out about failing inspections (if applicable to your area) are about the only benefits you will gain.

Muffler does not need a drain hole for moisture. The heat from being driven should burn off any moisture that might collect in there. That's one of the reasons why vehicles normally driven only short distances should be taken on the highway on a regular basis (like once a month or so) as well as several other benefits.

It will probably not make it sound too much louder, and if it did, it probably wouldn't be quite what you'd be expecting anyway. Besides, if you do it, and it does sound terrible, then the only way to fix it is to replace the muffler.

Best thing to do is to buy a decent performance exhaust system, cat-back systems usually sound the best. You might be able to find websites with links to play a sound clip of certain systems on your vehicle, check those out to see if the sound is close to what you think you might like (it won't be true to life, but a good way to get an idea anyway). Also, an exhaust system that is too loud and deep can be extremely annoying on long trips.

Why would you want to drill holes in your muffler? And does it work to do what?
If you have a moisture problem I could plausibly see a small drain hole but other than that your muffler does not need any holes in it.

You can drill holes anywhere in it you want. And then you will fail your next inspection, and be out the cost of a new muffler, which you will be required to replace.

I'm guessing you want more HP from your truck. The newer Dodge trucks have less restrictive mufflers so I doubt this will help. Unless you want your truck to sound like crap.

Sure you can drill it but be sure to miss the muffler bearings.

that is amazingly pointless, as any moisture interior the exhaust is displaced by using the warmth from the engine whilst the motor vehicle is being pushed. there is basically a small quantity of water interior the exhaust whilst ranging from chilly. it is likewise unlawful to have an exhaust that's fallacious.
