Why is it that the support the military/troops stickers are almost on everyone's car yet the majority of those people could care less about them and given the chance wouldnt even help a veteran or service member. Most dont even send cookies or care packages overseas, and for the business people they dont even hire veterans, or help a veteran if there car breaks down. Most just get the sticker because paul down the street has it. Stop using those stickers if you do nothing to support them. Every civilian can do something, no matter how small or big.

Jeepers creepers-You definitely seem to be the expert. I joined the military to serve, but I do think most or a good sized majority of the military besides you, joined to get an education and give them training so they can start there own business or be more competitve in the job market, after all thats what education is right? So your definitely 100% off, and sticking a stupid sticker on your car means jack sh!t. Your a level 6 on y answers, so you must spent lots of time on it (lots), how many times have you seen a question in the military section asking about education benefits and how the military can help a person when they get out? To me it seems to be at least a quarter of the questions. So that is a type of evidence that shows that not all people want to serve and get nothing out of it. THe sticker isnt even a movement. I just think you dont need a sticker to think about troops or support them, support them by actually supporting them.
I am not debating past events

Also Jeepers, I was waiting for an ignorant answer. I watch the news every day and I have never seen "peope" or an organization whining about supporting troops. so what whining about are you talking about. Its fact that many military personnel have a hard time on the outside.

I tottally agree with the sticker thing. You never know how much happiness you can bring to one soldier, marine, airman, or salior (yes the navy is over there too), just by sending a thank you card, or a package with some cookies in it. I am in the army, along with my husband who's on tour number 2 in iraq. He gets the most letters in his company because of me. Whats $.41 any more? Nothing... Save your damn $2, and mail a few thank you cards or letters just showing your concern... yeah like the troops can see that you support them on your cars... actions speak louder than words here people. There's a few websites in case you want to really suport your troops, and you can find most of them on

www.americasupportsyou.com

They have 100's of site to send care packages to individuals, or units, along with phone cards to call home, or donte money to fallen soldiers homes.

Even if you HAVE to get a damn sticker, look for the ones that actually donate some and if not all of the profit to a troop charity.

I don't know, but I bet if you ask the people who have those magnets many of them most likely have a family member, a friend, or someone they know serving in the military.

I do however agree that a lot of businesses won't hire military personnel. They would rather hire some teenager off the street that might if they're lucky last a month on the job, rather than hiring an ex-military person who most likely show up on time or even early for work, work hard, work extra hours, and would probably if given the opportunity stay until retirement. But most companies don't want that because then they would have to pay the employee a retirement. That's why most military veterans stay in the military until they can retire. They realize that the civilian businesses don't care about the military personnel that worked, fought, and sometimes sacraficed life, or limb(s) just so that greedy businessman can have his/her freedom.

Whine, Whine, Whine

The public doesn't show support, people whine

Now the public is finally showing support, and they are still Whining.

The more people who buy those darn stickers the better.

Atleast that means they are thinking about the troops.

Thats a far cry from what it has been in the past.

The more people who are thinking about the troops, means more people showing visible signs of support,

Such as sending care packages, hiring them.

So your 100% off base with your critisism.

I guess you wanna go back to the days of total apathy about the military.

And when did people start enlisting in the military , so civilians could send them stuff or hire them ?

All I ever ask for is the respect I earned, nothing more, nothing less.

Ive never expected anything, just because im a veteran.

No civilian owes me anything at all, for my time served.

EDIT:

Of course you try and turn the question in a new direction.

I didn't mention the reasons why service members joined.

You brought that out of left field.

But your still acting like the civilian world owes you something for enlisting.

And as to the whining, I was talking about your whining.

You remember, the civilans shouldn't buy those stickers, they should buy me stuff , fix my car for free and give me a job whining.

And as to ex military members having a hard time on the outside, so what ?

They can get an education just like everyone else and get a job.

You cannot expect anyone to hire someone with no job skills, thats what the GI BILL is for, to give veterans the chance to gain the skills necessary to get a job.

You must really think civilans should be kissing your butt, just because you enlisted.

You really think someone owes you forever, just because you served in the military ?

Talk about nanny state.

Although you may be right about the indifference of many that fly that sticker, there are also many who have either made their own sacrifices in present and past wars who believe that we need the American Public to understand that our troops deserve their respect and support, regardless of how they feel about the war. Any movement that keeps our troops from being spat on and slandered and some of the other despicable things that happened to returning Vietnam vets, I support, whether the person with the sticker actively supports our troops or not. Just don't disrespect our troops and the sticker may have helped. - Also a decorated proud vet

what makes you think that all the stickers are baseless? and to all the people who said money should be spent on more constructive things than a sticker, the stickers are what, a dollar? its quite possible to both have a sticker on your car and send a car package. i thank you for your service, though dont you think it is a bit presumptuous to say that the majority of those stickers belong to unconcerned civilians? why not military personal, or their families? you said "Every civilian can do something, no matter how small or big," but a sign saying they support the troops doesnt count?

I have two on my car. One on the trunk. One on the gas cap cover. Since I spent twenty five years of my life in the Navy and I have hosted unaccompanied military members from our local air base at holiday times in my home, since long before the attack on America, I don't feel any sense of shame for having those stickers on my car. What does irritate me are the members of the "Petey Patriot Brigade" who fly the U.S. flag on the left side of their vehicles. That's a sign of surrender! Those folks were just too lazy to check with a vet or even an eagle scout to learn how to do it correctly.

you may, yet on the same time that is tough. by using saying particular issues against the conflict, it inherintley hurts Troop ethical, and aids the enemies propoganda gadget. Examples: The conflict is misplaced Why are we There in basic terms saying "I help the troops", means Jack and Sh1t, whilst interior the subsequent sentence you thru certainly one of those 2 out their. helping the troops in my suggestions is as quickly as I see human beings helping our reason, or in case you do no longer prefer to try this, honestly thank them for what they're doing once you spot them. that's help. Get with company who deliver care applications, letters, help families and such. you're able to do all that ans nonetheless oppose the conflict. yet in basic terms saying "I help the troops", is like me saying love my infants. If i do no longer coach them I do, than they're in basic terms hallow words. As for the politics, what the armed forces needs nicely as undesirable because it sounds, ought to in no way impression political desicions. We ought to have Civilian rule, and that they make the call. The civilian rule ought to provide the armed forces its activity, and than pay attention to them on a thank you to end it. no longer ask if the armed forces desires to combat this conflict.

I agree! I support my troop, my husband is in the army and I couldn't support him more. My family even supports his soldiers who don't have family and don't have anyone to send them car packages. That is someone who cares! Too bad most people cannot be like that, but everyone is stuck up in their own world not realizing what are troops are going through.

The Democrats didn't support the troops in Vietnam, and they lost votes because of it. So now they're faking it so they don't lose votes. And so that it can provide cover for all the unamerican things they say and do. If they say they don't support the mission, that sounds bad. But if the start the sentence with, "I support the troops, but..." they think that sounds better.

I will you a story about what happened a few months ago to me. One of my good friends J.R. invited me to an assemby paying tribute to veterans who serve. I thought it was great a great thing to attend. However I was shocked when I was called to the front and every one said I am proud of what you do, I had tears in my eyes. I will serve this country no matter what I love being here. I am proud of all our service members and families they truly understand of this is about. Unlike most people who do not care about us.
