Just take care of them the way they took care of you.
They will not live forever so enjoy them as much as you can. You will miss them when they are gone. -God Bless.

What are the benefits of looking after parents? One is the fact you owe them your life. You should do this just for love, not because you will receive something in return.
Next, when your parents are no longer here on this earth, you will wish you did everything you could to make there latter years more enjoyable. This may be a selfish (in a way) way of looking at it, but you have to live with your actions. And I really don't think you will feel bad for doing things for, or taking care of aging parents in the long run.

As far as making them happy, it has been my experience, ( for which I have 5 years experience with this subject) that even if you do everything they want, and ensure everything is taken care of they will not let you know they are happy. I truly believe in the second childhood thing. I see a lot of the same characteristics in my 6 year old son that I see in my 78 year old mother. The only way I really know that she is happy, is because of what she tells other people.

The long and short of it is that you make your parents happy by showing them that you are there for them through thick and thin. Love them unconditionally as they did you.

What are the benefits you ask? Knowing that they are happy will give you great inner satisfaction.

I could write a book on this question. That is why I just wrote the short version.

Edit: When they raised you did they ask "what are the benefits of raising my child". "How can I make my child happy"? That should answer your question in a nutshell.

Your benefit is that you have your Parents to look after. It is so much pleasure and privilege to be able to make them comfortable in their final years. You asked what makes them happy. I find that just the fact that I was there for them made them proud and happy.

The best way is to want to help them without, any type of gain, for yourself. I see that as being a very sad thing to ask.

think about when they took care of you? what kind of benefits did they get?

Please, never look at things in that way. they do love you. and they will do anything for you with out asking for anything.

But the best way to do this is to become closer to them, talk to them and spend more time with them. show them how much you care, and cherish all the time you have with them.

for the memories of today, will be all you may have in the future. for the day will come, some day. when they will no longer be around. this is sad, but true.

I know, for this has happen to me. and it will also happen to everyone. but you never seem to, think about it. until after it has happen. then it is too, late to show your thanks. they have gave their, life to teaching and looking after you. asked for nothing. they gave all they could, to you. never expecting anything in return.

They do this because, they love you, so the best thing to do is to show them you love them. that is all, they want. but they will not even ask for your love. they want you to show it because you really love them. not if they have to ask for it.

many people tell me I can make them cry by just talking to them. ( if I do, I am sorry ) all I am doing is pointing out the truth. I do not mean to make anyone feel sad. but everyone, needs to know the truth. so' they can show how they feel now, while they have the chance. for they will never get another chance.

Please' take care of them. for they are the only parents you will ever have.

Take Care,

If you need to know the benefits (though I think that you should just love for love) then here they are:
1. They love you more
2. They tend to give you things when you ask for them more often
3. And maybe a little bit more for you in the will

But I think I'll rather do it cause I love them. Thats the way.

my sister and i looked after mom before she passed on. it was a challenge but i learned things about her i never knew. the only advice i can give you on making them happy is to never forget that they are your parents. treat them with the same or more respect than you did when they raised you and in every way possible, let them be the individuals that they are, meaning, don't take away there freedom unless it is harming them.
this decision that you are making is one that as long as you live, you will always Cherish and never regret.

hi happy man, lol. cute. well i would say it is not your responsibility to make your parents happy. nope not at all. however if you mean what can i do for them that they will appreciate and will make their day because you care and want to show them, that is a different question. in which case i would think about the things they like, hobbies, collectibles, nature, spending time with you. things like that, and do something for them in that way to show them that you care. a gift, card, flowers, take them out to dinner, coffee, something like that.
