She brought all of this on herself. She is the one who decided to break the law not once but twice. Not only did she come to the U.S. ILLEGALLY but she stole someones SS#. She got deported and left her son here, once again HER choice.
I say if she comes back a third time she does some serious jail time!!!!!!!!!

Elvira Arellano had what is known as a Hobson's Choice, and I do not know her or her motives well enough to judge her.
I have met mothers who were involuntarily separated from their children because of war, or for financial or personal problems at a young age. I think some honestly felt the child was better off where they were and I think some just couldn't hack the responsibility,

Question is ... does ANYBODY really think a good mother would leave an 8 year old behind for ANY reason?? This woman, who compares herself to Rosa Parks, what a joke that is, should have been deported ages ago .... ;(

I think she is a bad mother for thumbing her nose at our laws and for not leaving when she was ordered to. I think that she is a bad mother and a coward for "hiding out".
HOwever, her leaving the child here (with the pastor and his wife) I believe to be the only thing that may make her a good mother- depending upon her reason for doing so.
The conditions in Mexico are horrific. If she knew she would be returning to a dangerous situation, where she and the child may be hungry and not able to get medical care, or even secure a home, I think it is a loving mother that would give the child the opportunity to stay where he is safe and not suffering.
* Ken- what the heck? This kid "passed through the birth canal" here AND this is the ONLY COUNTRY HE HAS EVER KNOWN. Remember 3rd grade? 8 years old? WOuld you have noticed if you were suddenly somewhere that they spoke a different language and were so poor? The child has lived here for 8 years. This is the only culture he knows. I would understand if he was 2. He is 8. Please!

Yea, I don't think she ever cared much about him. I'm really getting tired of the friggin media calling her an activist. She's a criminal and should have served time and then been deported. As is she will come back, steal another SSN and we can repeat this again.

If she was being forced to go back to a country where she might be persecuted or abused, I could understand her not bringing her child, but I know lots of people who live happily in Mexico. They may not have as much money as they would have here in the U.S. but they still have happy families. Her son should be with her.

It definitely makes her a bad mother who could leave their child in another country. Mexico is not that bad tens or thousands of people make a good living in Mexico. She is bad for causing all this ruckus she shouldn't get to stay in America she got a false security card # just to get the free money she should be jailed they DEPORTED

She's a bottom feeder. She used her son to make a spectacle. The thought the government would blink, and she was wrong. It serves her right, and in my opinion her kid is not an american. It takes a little more than passing through the birth canal on US soil to be an american. Neither of the kids parents are Americans so what does that make him. I know I know, the 14th amendment right? Yeah thats about protecting former slave's rights not giving this prostitute an anchor baby.

I do not think she is a bad mother because she do not take her son with her, but I do believe that she is not being honest with herself or her son by blaming the USA for her not being with her son. I do not believe for one minute that we had heard the last of this self serving, self promoting women.

If she took him with her,she would lose his SSI check, that we as taxpayers are paying for. I'm sure that check is still being deposited in her BOA account even though someone else is feeding her child.
