the aliens left in a hurry because they didn't think we were smart enough to land on mars, so they left all of their equipment, including rough drafts of the everything from the egyptian myths to the flying spaghetti monster. there's also a hotline to the vatican. it would be irrefutable proof that all religion was fabricated by little green men.
how should the astronauts reveal this discovery to the general public?

These astronauts are too "drunk" while driving the Space Shuttle to ever make it to Mars. Have you not read about the Drunk Astronauts? I like the one that was printed on the front page of my Morning Journal last month. It talked about the Drunk NASA Astronaut who accidentally took a Russian Soyuz Space capsule into orbit instead of the Space Shuttle. It was right there in print, so it must be true.

The Government and the Roman Catholic church would probably conspire to keep us from knowing because it would be a threat to their power and authority.
Non RC Christians and members of other faiths would probably be fascinated and seek answers to questions like have the Aliens always existed for all eternity?
If so where did they live before the Universe came into existence?
And if the Aliens are not eternal, who created them? An external force/intelligence that WAS pre-existent?

I think they should give me back the bottle of Jack Daniels they have stolen from me. The 150 proof was a gift to only be used on lonely weekends and trips to the white house. You would be amazed how much sense G.W. makes after 5 shots of that.
