Blacking out like that could be a sign of a problem with your blood pressure.

Sometimes sudden movements can cause your blood pressure to drop instantly, causing you to black out.

Go see the doc. If you mom won't take you, find some one who will. You know how to use the phone and make the appointment, so do it.

Blacking out is not normal and you need to be seen by a doc.

You are not a hypochondriac to be concerned if you are blacking out or having frequent headaches. It could be a sign of something worse. I know when I blacked out when I was pregnant they said it was due to lack of oxygen/blood to the brain and just to sit down and take deep breaths. Don't see that taking deep breaths and putting your head between your legs can hurt you.
Also, pay attention to when you have your headaches. Do you drink much water? If you do not have enough water in your body it stresses it and it has to work much harder. If you have a headache, it is a signal your body is trying to send you that something is not quite right. I get them if I do not have enough water, for instance. I also get them if I am not being true to myself. Try keeping a record of when they happen and what you are doing, feeling etc when it happens, and you might be able to pinpoint the cause of yours. Emotional stress can be a cause of headaches etc too. Stress is meant to be handled, not suppressed, and your body will tell you if you are not handling it. Don't know if this has been helpful or not, but at least you can know I don't think you're crazy. If you keep a record of what's going on, you might be able to convince your mom that it's real, and you'll have more information for the doctor, too. Doctor's can only help you if you give them good information. Good luck!

Sit your mom down and have a serious talk with her. Let her know how you feel and how many times your blackouts have occurred. Then you can call and arrange a doctor's appointment.

A blackout or sudden loss of consciousness can be due to several causes, and it is not always easy to determine the exact cause in a particular case. A simple faint would probably be the least serious cause. Fainting can occur for many reasons, such as standing in one position for a long time, being dehydrated, severe fright (e.g., at the sight of blood), or other emotional stress. Prior to fainting, some people may experience warning symptoms such as sweating, light-headedness, weak knees, or queasiness of the stomach.

A variety of heart problems can cause a blackout. Some people may have very low blood pressure or a sudden drop in their blood pressure when they stand up. Irregularities of heart rhythm may produce a sudden loss of consciousness without any warning signs. The heart may stop beating for a while or throw in extra beats or beat very fast, all of which result in reduced blood flow to the brain.

A seizure is another reason for loss of consciousness. With a seizure, the person may have jerking movements of the arms and legs and lose bowel or bladder control.

The transient ischemic attack (TIA), which your doctor mentioned as the cause in your case, is really a "mini stroke" that lasts less than 24 hours and leaves a person with no permanent damage. Usually a small blood clot will flip off from an artery in the neck and travel to part of the brain, causing blockage of blood flow. Depending on which part of the brain, a person may also have numbness and weakness of the hand or foot, or difficulty speaking or drooping of the face, but not necessarily.

Up to 40% of the time, no explanation is found for a sudden loss of consciousness. Why don't you ask your doctor if he has investigated the other possibilities I have mentioned, particularly checking for any heart abnormalities.

Good luck!

Headaches can't be diagnosed without a trip to the doctor. Chances are they are just stress or hormonal headaches and nothing to worry about; however, the blackouts (dizzy spells?) could possibly indicate some other problem.

You don't mention if they go away when you take Tylenol. If they're not severe, and they go away with one dose of Tylenol, then they're probably just plain old headaches and nothing to worry about. If they don't go away with a couple of Tylenol, you might be having migraines or there could be some other problem.

Go to the school nurse the next time you have one of these headaches and tell her what you've told us. She can give you much better advice than we can.

Well I used to get Dizzy all the time and black out. I was around 15 or 16 years old, don't really remember, like I said I was blacking out all the time. Went to the doctor and after some blood work and an Electroencephalogram
They figured out my white cells and triglizerides where to low.
So the gave me some shots every Friday for a year and haven't had any more since. I'm 25 now, and it's all good.

get a new doctor. my friend once, got relly dizzy easily, by bending down and stuff like that. she went to the doctor and got pills or something. get a new doctor, because the patient is always right, and a doctor can't deny this. for headaches if it is just hormonal, take pills from like CVS or a pharmacy. but blacking out isn't , i have never in my life. definately get a second or third opinion. good luck.

Your mom didn't ask your doc about the blackouts? That really is not good if you're blacking out with no reason behind it. Your mom should take it more seriously. Your mom's a moron, sorry. Go to a walk-in clinic or something.

They are OBVIOUSLY not hormornal and your mother sounds like somebody I would never want to know....
You need to see a doctor because there could be a good or bad reason behind these headaches and blackouts.
Your mother sounds like she doesn't even want to be bothered, plus, vitamins do nothing in regards to headpain.

being dramatic doesnt help the problem, I have a mother like that to. I have major back probs and other medical probs and I'm bipolar and 3/4 of the time she thinks I'm faking it. and yes she has called me a hypo. seems like the only time she believes me is if I am literally sitting in tears. go to the nurse at school and talk to her and see if she can help. you have got more than hormone problems. sounds to me like you might have a blockage somewhere and you need to go to the doctor.

You need to see a doctor yourself but if that isn't possible and you are still in school go to the school nurse and talk to her about it. You could also talk to a teacher or your principal, anyone that you are comfortable. Once they know about it they may be able to help you get the proper help to get checked over.
