Doesn't the Lord's Prayer ask:

Our Father, who art in heaven...yada yada...

...And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil...

Now prayers are, as I understand it, pleas to the sky god for guidance and assistance. Why is the prayer begging "Our Father" to NOT lead us into temptation, but rather to take us away FROM evil.

Why ask the sky god to stop tempting us?

Is he that wicked and such a trickster that he needs to tempt us? Is he continually tempting us? Isn't temptation evil? Isn't that Satan's job?

Hey Disease: And just what part of "And lead us not into temptation" do you not understand? Your prayer is begging your god not to tempt you. How can you possibly refute that? And I don't hate your god, I just don't believe in it.

Sometimes He does to test our faith. Even Jesus Christ was put through this test of faith by no less than his Father. That's the reason why we ask God to "lead us not into temptation." Isn't it a fact that because of our free will we are always being tempted? But God always gives us the grace to withstand any temptation and to choose what is good.

Why not let God be responsible for everything? The good, the evil, the temptation, the strength to resist temptation, the regret when the resistance fails, the forgiveness, the salvation, and so on...

The concept is Sovereign God creator of ALL things.

In line with holy Qur'an God has no propensity to lead us into temptation.Satans or bad jinns will lead us into temptation to choose the wrong path. But if we have a strong faith to Allah the only one God satans could not tempt us..Fasting,praying and reminding Allah will avoid us to be tempted by satans.Satans are very evil and cruel. They always bring us to the bad things such as conceiting, stealing, killing, drug addic
ting,gambling,lying etc.

No. lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. Jesus always told His Disciples to pray that they may not fall into temptation, because Jesus knew that the Body is weak. The Bible says that God does not cause any one to sin and neither cause any one to fall God is too Holy and He knows that our days are numbered so God does not tempt any one to do Evil, because evil does no. dwells with the Lord, says the Lord God. The Lord Has been watching over all of us since day one, who can a loving and caring Father not care for His own people which He created to suit His own purpose"s. God also told us in the Scriptures that when we are tempted let no one say that the Lord did it, and He added no temptation is so great that man commit that our Heavenly Father cannot removed from the midst of f. us God is not that kind of God that will leave us stranded nor hopeless nor forget all of His promises He gave us i n the Bible... Peace to you.

Coz he is trying to see if you are good enough for Heaven, he is trying to see where you would belong or where would you be happy, if you commit a sin and does not repent then that means that you will enjoy your stay in Hell too since sins could freely be commited there, He is just giving us what we want

"When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death." James 1:13-15

Your need to read all your bible. First of all its Satan who temps us and God gives us his son to overcome the temptation, as humans .....we all have that free will to sin. We have a choice to disobey or obey God's laws. God is not an evil God, he loves us.

We fall into temptation because of our own sinful hearts. God is not to blame.

It's alter ego is a she, and it is she who leads us into very delectable temptation, just like Eve.
