If we have rechargeable lithium coin battery and want to recharge it, what we can do? Can we just directly apply voltage from power cable to positive and negative terminal of the battery?I mean just connect direct current from the power supply.

I think rechargeable batteries require the proper recharging dock to work properly and ensure safety.

Yes, but you should limit the current and either monitor the voltage across the battery or limit the amount of time you charge it.

Check the charging specs for that battery and choose a resistor of the proper value and power dissipation capacity to limit the current, or use a variable power supply and adjust it accordingly.

Keep in mind that if you put too much current into the battery, or screw up and get the polarity wrong, the cell can overheat and explode. Maybe wear safety glasses.

Try this commercial charger rather than take a chance on a do-it-yourself technique that could overheat and destroy battery http://www.powerstream.com/licoin-charger.htm
