when people read this passage, they only read from 9-16, but it does not stop there. try reading the whole story, to me, i believe it was a test of faith.

I believe God was testing Peters faith, i do not believe God was cleansing all animals to eat. Think about it.

I sure would like to hear every ones opinions on this one.

My interpretation is that this is the point where Gentiles were permitted to be a part of the church and were no longer unclean.

Actually, all things that don't have any parasites ARE ok to eat. Personally, if I were in the wilderness dying of hunger and thirst and a buzzard was stalking me, I'd let HIM eat ME, rather than eat him and get the parasites in me.
In jungle/wilderness survival training we are taught to eat some pretty disgusting things to survive.

Acts 10, verse 12 - 15 says "and there were in it all kinds of four-footed animals and crawling creatures of the earth and birds of the air. A voice came to him, "Get up, Peter, kill and eat!" But Peter said, "By no means, Lord, for I have never eaten anything unholy and unclean." Again a voice came to him a second time, "What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy."
That does say that GOD CLEANSED all those animals that were once considered UNCLEAN and now are CLEAN. So, what is 'UNCLEAN' now? From that passage, NOTHING is unclean if God CLEANSED all those things.
According to Jewish law, since certain foods were forbidden to be eaten, it made it difficult for Jews to eat with Gentiles (non-Jews) without being defiled. In fact, Jews considered Gentiles 'unclean.' Since God made those foods clean, then Peter could eat them and thus sit and eat with Gentiles. After the vision, Peter understood that the he COULD go into the home of the Roman Centurian, give him the Gospel message, and the Centruian COULD accept Christ as Savior. I hope this helps you understand the passage. Salvation is for ALL people, not just a select few. (Ref: John 3:16)

This passage does two things. 1) It allows Jews and Gentiles to eat all types of animal meat. 2) It was teaching Peter a lesson about racism. God was teaching Peter not to discriminate against the Gentiles (as Gentiles were seen as unclean in that day). God was showing him that He accepted Gentiles and Peter needed to also.
