Jessi-Lee,
There are a lot of good Chihuahua sites out there. When you go to get your Chihuahua, look at Chihuahua rescues. You'll find them cheaper. If you buy one from the local paper ads etc., they run from about 300 bucks up the lower price being the lesser quality. They can reach prices of around 1500 dollars as well. In general, the smaller the more expensive. FYI, Chihuahuas are the smallest breed of dog there is. They are like patato chips, bet you can't own just one. My wife and I love em, they are great little dogs that are cute to have perform tricks. Some believe chihuahuas originate in China, some believe they are descendants of the aztec dog Techichi (very rare today)
but none the less they are fun ,cute, and appear to be strong little dogs. If you get one, beware of the "Napolean Syndrome"

type in Chihuahua in Yahoo.com or Google and it will pop up dozens of good Chihuahua sites

"Tea Cup" Chihuahuas are rare and are usually malformed genetically similar to a human dwarf and are susceptible to joint problems, bone growth and other problems. Do yourself a favor and avoid breeders who claim they breed them. Standard Chihuahuas are 3 to 6 lbs full grown. If THAT isn't small enough, try a mouse instead. Chihuahuas, in general are too close to wild to predict size, color, or head type. The "applehead" is generally smaller than the "deerhead" but can come out of the SAME litter. There is no way to predict size no matter what the parents look like as genetics may grab several generations back for size or color.

There is no such thing as a teacup chihuahua. It is a runt and usually quite unhealthy!!!! You are much better off getting a 4-5 lb chi than a 2 lb one. Beware any "breeder" who claims to sell "teacup chihuahuas".

Here is a site with lots of info.

Find a local breeder. Don't buy over the internet or NEVER FROM A PETSTORE!!! Check out how and where the pups are raised/ Good luck.

There is no such thing as a "Tea Cup" anything. If you find a website promoting 'tea cup chihuahuas' I wouldn't trust it. The term tea cup just describes a very small dog, smaller than the breed standard states. Any breeder who will breed a dog specifically against the breeds standards is not a reputable breeder, and you will want to get your puppy from someone else.

Here are a few good websites:

There no such thing as a teacup chihuahua or teacup anything. If a breeder is selling a so called "teacup" chihuahua, you are being ripped off and i would RUN! They are undersized, weak organs, sickly, small chihuahuas. Google teacup chihuahua health problems. Please educate yourself!

People are not being mean...they are trying to educate you, trying to make sure you make a wise decision in choosing a healthy puppy from a good, responsible, honest breeder.

Do NOT buy a puppy from a website and have it shipped to you!

Go IN PERSON to a breeder and SEE the dogs in person. You are choosing a living companion...not a pair of shoes

A "tea cup" is not a breed it is a size.....UNDERsize. Any site on Chi's in general will cover it. "Tea cup" is a term used by crappy BYB to sell undersized puppies.
Doesn't everyone think Chi's are small enough without inflicting excassive undersize-ness on them??????
