Is there any hostility towards Americans in the UK (London)? We're planning a trip next summer and I would like to get an idea what the situation looks like. Thanks
P.S. Does anyone recommend any tourist attractions?

There will be no hostility towards Americans in the London, England. You may get the occasional jibe and joke in your general direction but just take it in good nature as it is intended.

Of course there will always be a few idiots, they are unavoidable and you get them everywhere. Just like the English do in America.

As for attractions in London, I am not the biggest expert on this but I can suggest the London Eye, Tower of London, Changing of the Guards etc. Maybe someone with more knowledge can suggest attractions.

However you will be fine here in London, I hope you have a great vacation and enjoy your stay.

we just spent 2 weeks in England and experienced nothing but wonderful treatment. I was told that the English could be a little "cold and stand-offish" (by a british friend!) but that was not the case at all. We had the most fabulous trip of our lives!
Let's see, we toured Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London, took a day trip to Hampton Court Palace, a boat ride on the Thames, the British Museum, did a lot of walking (to Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and all over), rode the London Eye, rode trains and busses, ate all kinds of wonderful food. We also spent a week in the Cotswolds area and it is absolutely gorgeous if you have time. That's the area with the quaint villages with thatched roof cottages, beautiful little rivers flowing right through town, wonderful shops with local crafts.... have a great trip! We're already planning our return for May '09!!!!
PS This trip included 3 generations from grandparents (me and my ex-husband... still friends), a 30 something daughter and 2 grandsons ages 4 and 11. We ALL had the best time of our lies
