She was only 4 years old. I came home yesterday on my lunch break to let her outside and she was totally normal. jumping around all hyper like usual. I put her back in the kitchen where I always kept her gated while I was at work, and when I came home 5 hours later she was laying on the floor nonresponsive and barely breathing. I rushed her to the vet but she died in my arms on the way there. the vet did all they could but could not save her. The dr. said he could find absolutely nothing wrong with her when he examined her. it wasant an autopsy or anything, just an examination. any Ideas what happened to my dog?? I need some answers so I can get closure because it doesnt make sense to me. I miss her greatly.

Should have gotten the necropsy if you really wanted to know.

How can we know?? Could have been anything from posion to heart defect.

First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss. This must have been especially difficult since you didn't see it coming at all. Is there the possibility that she could have gotten into something toxic in the kitchen? If she was poisoned, then there probably wouldn't be a good chance that the vet could identify the cause of death without an actual autopsy. Did you get her from a reputable breeder? Is there any possibility of an autopsy?

my guesses would be stroke, stress, or shock. pomeranians don't generally like being left alone. it might have barked itself to death. my dog's almost killed itself that way 3 times. it just doesn't know when to stop. I always end up carrying her back into the huse so she doesn't harm herself. it have been the heat too, heat stroke generally doesn't leave any signs.
