My mom is the assistant manager at a hotel. When I was going to school, I would help out there whenever they were short handed. I was the breakfast hostess (I was in charge of the breakfast bar...keeping it stocked, cleaning up and so on as well as cleaning the rest of the hotel such as the lobby, hallways, stairwells, bathrooms....everything besides the hotel rooms). People amazed me. Parents would let their children make such messes and not even bother with it....I remember once a kid dumped a whole mess of cheerios in the floor and stomped on them. His mother actually laughed and then looked at the mess and then at me as if to say "Are you going to clean that up or just leave it sitting there?"

Though, that's really nothing to what my mom has to deal with. People seem to think that you owe them something...it's really unbelievable how some act. I would never behave that way nor would I let my children. Thankfully, though, this is not the majority of people. But the ones who do behave badly leave quite an impression...

This is my little rant for the day...lol, I'm annoyed right now.

princeessintraning...you're the type I'm talking about. And, try $60 a night...not 3 to 5 hundred. It is not our job to clean up after you wreck the place...some mess is understandable (obviously), but when people behave like they are better than you and treat you like dirt it's ridiculous.

People don't even try to control their kids, they think it's cute if they're wild or active. If I did something like that my parents wouldn't feed me, so i learned respect from a very early age, people just don't care anymore. My job is to tutor kids and this one 5 year old does stuff like grab other people's stuff and break it or spill drinks (or kick me in the stomach, but that's another story....) and everyone acts like it's so cute cause he's a "free spirit" and when he grows up, he'll just be one of those people who don't give a damn about others. You should feel pissed off, you're mom is paid to manage the hotel, not clean it, and no one should treat you like she or you should. Some people just have no respect for anyone. it's disgusting.

If I were you, I would have gone and gotten a broom and dust pan and handed it to the lady. Say something sweet and simple like "Here you go." and walk off. We seem to be getting a lot of self-centered people in this generation. I would be mortified if my daughter did that in public, and she would be on the ground picking up every last cheerio. I would also be leaving a big tip for the waitress if my children did make a big mess that they couldn't clean up.

My boyfriend laughs at me because I will stack the plates on the table and wipe it down with my napkin before we leave. Service industry employees aren't servants. Unless you are leaving a 40%+ tip, you have no right to trash the space you are using.

People say I am too honest for my own good. If it had been me, I would have said to that mom, "I guess you let him do that at home to. Shall I bring you a mop so you can clean it up?" There is never an excuse for that type of behavior unless you are an animal and live like a hog. Anyone ever know where the term "cheap white trash" came from? It came as a result of decent people have to deal with the likes of this mom who thought that behavior was really funny. BTW...I am white and as a customer in that hotel, if I saw that, I would have said something to her. She is a disgrace to the human race.

You said it sister!! People are amazing, and not always in good ways. All I can say is that your mother raised you right. That's why you would never do those awful things.

Those parents are doing that child a disservice by using that behavior in front of them. The children, in turn, will think it is ok, become snobby little brats themselves, and never be able to make good lifelong friends, never make good contact with people.

At this point, I would actually feel sorry for them. How would you like to go through life acting like an asshole? Kudos to you for recognizing the idiots in life. Stay away from them as much as possible. Step awaaaayyyy from the idiots.

Unfortunately, this is the real world. It can just take one rude and inconsiderate "person" to ruin someone's day. There are a lot of so-called people, such as the ones you described, in this world. It shouldn't be so hard to use some manners. I would be annoyed too if I had a day like yours. Trust me, I have had my run ins with these thoughtless type of people too.

I worked in retail for 2 1/2 years and I'm amazed at how nasty people can be. They would $hit and piss in the fitting rooms. Somebody smeared $hit all over the bathroom doors. They would spill their smoothies/soda's and not tell anybody. I've even seen nasty dirty underwear left on top of a mirror in a changing room.

One lady had a little girl walking behind her complaining and holding herself because she had to pee so bad. The mom ignored her, so I watched this poor little girl leave a trail of pee behind her. Did the mom stop and tell somebody? Of course not! She just grabbed her daughter and left.

It's very sad to know that there's such disgusting people out there.

I hate it when people expect waitstaff to clean up after their children. I always check the floor before leaving a restaurant...even a fast food place. If my son throws something on the floor on purpose I make him get down and pick it up.

Princess: It doesn't matter how much someone pays to stay somewhere. It is called human decency. It is a motel/hotel, not a pigsty. Grow up and teach your kids to act like decent human beings.

The problem is.... No proper up bringing. Plain and simple. The sad part is they have not got a clue. They don't know how trashy they really are. And it is definitely annoying. The good thing is, there are still people out there that know better. So don't let it get to you too much. Have a great day.

I always find it amazing how dirty, snobby , and rude people are out in public.

I was taught that you should be on your best behavior when you are out, but its obvious that's not taught anymore.

I straighten up my hotel room when I check out, just because I don't want the housekeepers to talk about me..

I treat waiters, cooks etc as if they are doing me a favor, since they are.

They are helping me out, because their services are saving me time and energy. I teach my son this also.

There are good people and bad people and sometimes, we have to get thru some horrible ones to appreciate the great ones.

Yeah, it is called human decency. People like
princess need to either teach their children to not be piglets or don't have them! Actually, real piglets probably behave better than some kids I've seen, and money doesn't enter into it. They could pay 1000, it doesn't matter, clean up after your own little pigs if you can't teach them any better or don't have them!
