I do boxer conditionning that focuses on ab/core work for the first 20 mintues, then we have a 20 minutes jog/run, then we have 20 minutes of boot-camp randomness... and so I've always wondered, is it necessary for me to have protein after this? What are your opinions on it?

It's a pretty gruelsom workout that incorporates lots of cardio and resistance without weights.

Tuna fish, lean turkey, egg whites, skinless chicken breasts
You can get enough protein through your diet, without the powder. You do need more protein, but an extra protein serve or two will do it, loading up with protein powder is not needed, even when you are working out as much as you.
Protein shakes are good but not necessary, the only problem is that some don't contain all the essential amino acids. I took a nutrition class from a clinical registered dietitian, and she said that some athletes who take the protein powder without all the essential amino acids sometimes become deficient in a particular amino acid, because they are taking so many of another AA from their powder. Amino acids are sort of the pieces of protein that make a whole protein. If you decide to buy protein powder, talk to a dietitian to make sure its a "whole protein." The salespeople at a nutrition store may or may not know, or they might lie to you to sell the powder. Soy is a whole protein, so are many of the powders made by EAS, and any meat, poultry, or fish, is a whole protein.

after a work out you HAVE to have some simple sugars. right after your workout drink a gatorade or a soda. this will give you an insulin spike. the insulin will rush nutriants to your muscles. take your vitamins and amino acids (if your not taking these then your getting half a workout)with your simple carbs. then 15 minutes later take a protein shake (50 grams).

I like to eat eggs or egg whites. They are really low in calories (egg whites). You could try a protein shake or something, but they have a lot of extra things added to them. It depends on your personal taste. Try eggs. An omelet with 4 egg whites and a slice of cheese is quite yummy.
