don't worry. i think the same way. And yeah it might be just another warming trend, but we ARE contributing. and maybe if this had occurred 1 mil years ago, it would all go back to normal. But global warming is a chain reaction, when the ice caps melt, less sun is reflected, and is continuously being trapped in our atmosphere. i don't know why I so strongly believe this way. And sure I don't know a lot about politics or anything, after all, I'm only 14. But i think someone should be doing something, especially when most people think it's " just a democrat thing" Well, to tell you the truth, i don't believe in political parties either. Just listen to George Washington's farewell address. It warns us against separating ourselves as a nation, he also advised to stay away from the business of other countries..... (hellooo IRAQ!) So yeah that's pretty much all I have to say.But also, I think gary i is pretty full of himself.

I do and so does pretty much everyone else. There might seem like a lot of oposition but it's coming from a vocal but small minority. Have a look at this poll - http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/articles/btenvironmentra/187.php?nid=&id=&pnt=187 and you can see that around the world there is a huge majority of people who consider climate change to be a serious threat.
Also beleiving in global warming is almost every scientist and person educated in global warming / climate change (99%+), every government, every major orginisation, every scientific organisation bar one and even all the major oil companies.
If you beleive in global warming you're in a large majority and have science and knowledge on your side.

Very interesting link from Trevor above. I was beginning to think, from what I see on YA, that American public opinion might not be seeing it as a problem. This gives me hope that the American political establishment will move on this issue. Just in case it is not clear from the above, I do believe global warming is occurring.

Thousands of scientists:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/306/5702/1686
Lots of conservatives:
"Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming"
"Pat Robertson (very conservative Christian leader) 'It is getting hotter and the ice caps are melting and there is a build up of carbon dioxide in the air. We really need to do something on fossil fuels.”
Ford Motor Company CEO William Clay Ford, Jr. "I believe there is now more than enough evidence of climate change to warrant an immediate and comprehensive - but considered - response. Anyone who disagrees is, in my view, still in denial."
"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."
James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.
"Global warming is real, now, and it must be addressed."
Lee Scott, CEO, Wal-Mart Company
Most of the people in the world:
http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/articles/home_page/329.php?nid=&id=&pnt=329&lb=hmpg1
and these people:
"The overwhelming majority of atmospheric scientists around the world and our own National Academy of Sciences are in essential agreement on the facts of global warming and the significant contribution of human activity to that trend."
Russell E. Train, former environmental official under Presidents Nixon and Ford
"Global warming is already starting, and there's going to be more of it. I think there is still time to deal with global warming, but we need to act soon. Humans now control global climate, for better or worse."
James Hansen, Ph.D. climate scientist, NASA
"Global warming "is the most important challenge we face in this century. The hour is no longer for skepticism. It is time to act, and act urgently."
Prince Albert II of Monaco
"Global warming is the most challenging problem our society has ever had to face up to. Ice is the canary in the coal mine of global warming."
Britain's chief scientist David King
"By mid-century, millions more poor children around the world are likely to face displacement, malnourishment, disease and even starvation unless all countries take action now to slow global warming."
Michael Oppenheimer, professor of geosciences and international affairs at Princeton University
“With overwhelming scientific evidence that global warming is adversely impacting the health of our planet, the time has come for the Congress to take action.”
Senator Olympia Snowe, Republican, Maine
"I agree with you (Gore) that the debate over climate change is over."
Rep. Dennis Hastert, Republican, Illinois
"I'm trying to learn [about greenhouse gases and global warming]. The more I learn, the bigger believer I become."
Senator Lindsay Graham, Republican, South Carolina
"We simply must do everything we can in our power to slow down global warming before it is too late. The science is clear. The global warming debate is over."
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Republican, Governor, California
"Our nation has both an obligation and self-interest in facing head-on the serious environmental, economic and national security threat posed by global warming."
John McCain, Republican, Senator, Arizona
