Prices vary--a normal gray tiel could cost as little as $25 or so from a private breeder. Fancy varieties will cost more. I saw a gorgeous male pearl lutino at a Petco in Eugene Oregon a couple of weeks ago. They wanted $59 for it, which I thought was a very fair price. Of course you could find more expensive ones, too.

Don't skimp on the cage. Get a good one. Tiels will enjoy a playland on the top, but this might not work if you have cats. You should expect to spend $50-100 for a basic cage--of course you can spend as much money as you have on it, depending on size, toys, etc. A bigger cage will allow your bird to get more exercise and leave room for toys. But don't get a parrot cage, with wires so wide that your bird could get out.

You will want to plan to have enough money to have your bird clipped (or have someone with birds teach you how to do it.) It will save you much heartache from a pet that flies out the door or window. I have no idea how much this would cost--my wife is the bird trimmer in our household. (We're down to just two birds now, an Amazon and a parakeet, down from 38 some years back.)

That would just depend on what type of cockatiel you're planning to get. The more rare the mutation, the more $$$ it'll cost. For example, a normal gray cockatiel would go anywhere from $25-$50 Where a cinnamon pearl white face would go for about $130. Average price for a cockatiel at a pet store would be around $70-$100. Also the bigger the cage, the bigger the price. Mine was $120 for the bird alone and $80 for his cage even though he's rarely in it. And $20 worth in food and millet.

Well:

Cockatiel (100-120)
Cage(about 100-150)
Food well pellets will cost about 25 bucks for a 10 lb bag.
Then about 10 bucks for seed

Buy the biggest cage possible, it may cost more but it is worthit. SO you'll spend 235- 305 in bird, cage, and proper diet. Toys and perches will be another 50-100 dollars. They're fairly inexpensive birds actually. Scary, eh?
