Why live with hope when you can live with will and truth.
It must be sad hoping all the time.

Who says Atheists have no hope?
It's just that Atheists make changes in the world and create hope here for things that exist, and things that can be. They help out the needy and make good things happen-- instead of living a dreary life and just hoping for Heaven. I'd rather live life now than wait and pray for things to happen. You can't sit around and pray, you have to make things happen if you're to have a good life. It's called helping yourself.
Peace.

I don't live on dreams of a heaven and whatever it is you dream you'll be doing there ... cos I just know you think you are one of the chosen.
I live in the knowledge that this is as good as it gets and right now it's pretty good for me.
I've got food, shelter, transport, friends and family; I even have some stuff and a few bucks in the bank.
It doesn't get any better than this.
I don't do 'hope' - it's an empty dream the hopeless have; it’s wishful thinking.

I just wonder what its like living in this troubled world believing there is a god that could help stem the suffering...
Personally, I am much more content with things now that I am atheist than I ever was as a christian child. So I guess we should put our hope in each other rather than a non existent (or dark and sinister if it exists) god.

What is hope to you? That someone up above will solve your problems? Has that worked out for you yet? If you mean after death I'm find with death because it ends my life and that means I won't feel anything or be anymore. I don't need a security blanket to make it through day after day. I live my life as full as I can and try to make each adventure something special. You make it sound as if I'm mopey or something but I'm not I may not smile much but I'm actually pretty happy.

Sure sounds like I have a lot more hope than you! FYI - I'm an atheist and an optimist. I believe that the human race is just getting started. We have a self-made PURPOSE - to spread the seed of life throughout the galaxy . . . and beyond. We have millions and millions of worlds to explore and ultimately colonize and terraform. We have infinite mysteries to explore and unravel. We have lots and LOTS to do, and we'd best "get busy" doing it!

I have lots of hope, Hope that I'm graduating in December, hope that I'm getting into law school next year, hope that I can fall in love and have a family with 2.1 kids, and hope that I'll live happily ever after until I die and become worm food.

Why do you imagine we atheists have no hope? I have great hope for the future, if the Christians and Muslims will allow humanity to actually have a future. I take great comfort in knowing that the things I hope for are at least possible -- unlike fundamentalist Christians who squander their one and only life hoping and praying for the "rapture."

You make a grand assumption - I have hope in what is real and that is my fellow human being. I hope to see the end of discrimination, I hope to see people learn to respect the planet we live on, among other things. I believe it to be very narrow-minded to think that only those who have belief in a deity have any kind of hope.

That's usually christians that have no hope in the world, and just hanging about waiting for "end times".

Where did you get the misconception that atheists don't have hope? It comes in many forms, not just through religion.
