I have worked in banking for 18 years and my husband has been a police officer for 17. Good thing that you called the bank, closed your account and opened another one, however, did they refund the money to you? They are supposed to do that in forgery cases as long as a police report has been filed. I would also recommend that you have extra security added to your account, password, mandatory ID check, etc. Your bank can help you with this.

A month is way too long. Contact the police department, and don't just call, phone calls have a way of getting swept under the rug. Go down there of you can, you will get a lot more accomplished. Good luck!

Call them back and follow up. A month is pretty long, they should have done something by now.

Forgery is a felony and it may have to go through a Grand Jury, sometimes that takes a while. But i would still call and find out. You can also stop by the police department and request a copy of the report, would let you know what is happening.

using my signature..

NO they didn't. Unless YOU sign the check they used your NAME, but not your signature.

You need to contact the police and ASK what the status of the case is. If you did not file a fraud report at the bank, you should contact them as well. Actually, you should have started with that and let the bank deal with the police.

Forget the police for the moment, go the bank and put a stop on the check immediately if not sooner.

Well, it's best if you follow up on it. Go back to the precinct and let them know that you haven't received the paperwork they said you'll be receiving to press charges.

In addition, just to be safe, you should close that account and open a new one- that way, your account won't be able to be used any other way (ex. through the internet).

Hope this gets straightened out. Good luck!

1) go to the bank, did you fill out an affidavit so your checkbook will not be affected
2) call the non-emergency number at the police dept. and ask for the detective on your case.

Contact the officer you dealt with or your local DA and as them to look into the case for you.
