Marisol you are misinformed about Toyota manufacturing Hyundais. Hyundai manufactures and engineers it's own fleet of vehicles and has for some time now.
I am the owner to two Hyundais, and my wife owned an original Hyunai Excel back in the early 90s. It was a great car up until about 80,000 miles when the tranny let go.
We now own an 07 Elantra GLS which is an awesome car. The previous car we owned was an 02 Elantra GLS which we traded in for the 07. We traded it in because we wanted something newer, and we had 90K miles on it
Our old Elantra never gave us a hint of trouble except once - and that problem was completely covered by the warranty.
The warranty is 5 years / 60,000 miles bumper to bumper and 10 years/100,000 miles on the powertrain (engine/tranny)
No one else in the industry can beat that. And for the price you really can't beat the car. It's comfy, has all the bells and whistles of "upgraded" models of the Civic and Corolla, and it's larger on the inside to boot!
The trick to buying one is that you either have to buy it NEW, or you have to make good and sure that the owner you're buying it from has taken good care of it (regular oil changes, scheduled maintenance done). Otherwise you're going to be buying something you may have to put a lot of money into. That is the risky part, buying without knowing the car's history.
But if you buy new, no worries!!!
Don't listen to the haters, they're bigtime misinformed. Hyundai placed third in build quality behind 2 other automakers, neither of which was Toyota OR Honda.

It's almost funny. When someone ask a question about how good Hyundai's are the same type of haters all come out of their holes at once and are the first to reply like a bunch of trolls "Hyundai bad, Honda good". You can tell their just a bunch of kids all giddy about their first car being a '95 Civic with a 5 foot spoiler in the back.
Hyundai's are very good cars. After I get another 120,000 miles on my Elantra I well not hesitate getting another Hyundai. While Honda makes a fine car they are more expensive. I'm not convinced the quality warrants the price.
I did hear some time ago that some designers hired buy Hyundai were once with Honda and Toyota but I don't know how true that is.

Well, That depend what which model of Hyundai u want to buy, I should first say that the Hyundai Azzera Won the best reaiable awrd for 2007 and this is car in class of BMW 5 and Toyota Avalon, Merc E class , Kinda big luxry sedan.
Mean while in 2006 the Hyundai Sonata was rated ahed than Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, despite that the price and gurantee still much better than the rivals, so If you willing to buy a family car, go a head a but a hyundai cuase it worth each penny u pay, while u getting a car with lots gizmoes and very powerfull engine smooth ride big space in trunk and fully loaded.
Just there is one thing with hyundai that i dont like is they had problem with dashboard design and still they have though they improve a lot.
saftey wise they looking great as Azzera for example comming up with 12 Air bag!!
But it is your choice yet!! Good luck

Hyundai makes Excellent cars. I've owned three, one in Korea and two in the USA. Hyundai Sonata's are Made in the USA, in Alabama. Hyundais are not made by anyone but Hyundai. The Hyundai quality is excellent but had, as did Toyota, honda and any other car made, problems it its early years. Hyundai has the best combined warranty of nearly any car made, 60k miles/5 year bumper to bumper AND 100k powertrain warranty. Newer models may have better warrantys. Most all other USA car companies have you pay about $1,500.00 for anything beyond the standard 3 yr/36k miles warranty. Hyundai also offeres a customer loyalty rebate on the next car you buy AND offers military speciality rebates (both about $500 each) at one time and may still do this. Hyundais cost LESS than comparable cars of any manufacture but give MORE features for the lower cost. Hyundais have more interior room than smiliar cars. Go to MSN dot com and use the autos section to compare the Hyundai to the Honda and see the results. Save money and buy a Hyundai, and keep it for ten years of superior driving.

Hyundai are great cars i'm on second sonata which has been great mechanically, i give a 95 out of hundred, Hyundai manufactures it own vehicles, Hyundai has better warranty than most new cars in it class like the 10 year or 100k power train, Honda has 5 years or 60k on the power train, Hyundai has a bumper to bumper warranty for 5 years or 60k, Honda has 3 years or 36 k miles, Hyundai has roadside assistance for 5 years unlimited miles, Honda does not offer this warranty, Hyundai offers you alot for almost $2000-5000 less than most Japanese and American models plus most models of hyundai come with ESC and ABS on most models.

I have a Hyundai car and if it's junk I'll know. I now have 47,000 miles, do not baby the car and don't care if I tear it up. (the one I have is just one of my cars so I don't need it if I tear it up) It uses no oil, runs great, fun to drive. I see a lot of people put well over 100,000 miles on them so they must not be junk as so many people think. I could only wish my first Toyota car was near as good as the Hyundai I have now as Toyota was almost junk then. Now would I buy another Hyundai, yes I would and most likely will.
The people I see telling how much junk that they are, but can never give a reason to why, so don't believe them. If you want one, buy it and enjoy.
(If I get thumbs down for saying how many cars I own.. put your money where your mouth is and I'll show you the titles for all of them. All but one paid in cash.

I love my Hyundai. I imagine I am a bit older than you, so I've had the opportunity to own many different cars - including a Honda, Toyotas(3), Fords (2), GMC, Dodge, Buick, and two Hyundais. I bought my most recent (2004 Santa Fe) used, and recently had to have a part replaced on the a/c. I called the dealership (I didn't even buy it there), and they sent a tow truck within 15 minutes. They replaced the part, and even replaced the thermostat, even though it seemed to be working fine - just in case. I didn't have to pay for any of it! Their warranty is awesome, and includes roadside assistance. My Santa Fe has heated leather seats, a moon roof, excellent stereo w/ 6 c.d. changer, anchored floor mats, cargo net, first-aid kit, etc. - all at a price Honda and Toyota can't come near.

No wonder Vanka only has a 2% best answer rate, he has no idea what he's talking about. He's giving details on Honda without even knowing what model she's asking about or what model he's referring too. So, how can he say it looks better then every Toyota or Hyundai? Has no clue about the price or engine of an S2000 even, they start at $30K dude, that could be twice the price of the Honda Fit she's looking at. The 2000 in S2000 stands for 2 litter engine as in its a 4 cylinder, there is no V6 or other optional engine

Hyundai ownership. Hyundai was 40% owned by Mitsubishi, which used to be 40% owned by Chrysler. Due to all of the changes with Chrysler I doubt that's the current case though that was true when Hyundai first hit the market over 15 years ago. This is why the Hyundai Excel, Mitsubishi Precis and Chrysler Spectrum were the identical car except for the name plate on the back. When you opened the hood all of them said Hyundai on the engine.
Hyundai's are better than they used to be though it depends on what you want in a car. I bought one because it was the least expensive car on the market that gave a 3 year 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warrantee. This was the identical warrantee Honda was offering at the time and the Honda was significantly more expensive. I think the Honda was a better car though I needed something I knew wouldn't cost me any extra money for repairs for at least 3 years and it turned out I didn't have a single problem with the car. Sadly a vandal broke in to where I stored the car and destroyed it a little before the 3 years were over though I would certainly recommend the car to anyone that wants basic reliable transportation. They aren't classy, they aren't the best and people look down at Hyundais though if you are happy with having the car for 3-5 years and save some money go for it. At the time I had a lot of friends with nice cars, ugly car payments and they sat at home while I had extra cash. I don't want anyone that likes me for my car any way. Cars should work for us, not the other way around.

Hyundai is a great car to buy. Sure in the early days there were teething pains; but then again every car goes through such stages. Hyundai is not made by Toyota, but I would say that in terms of quality luxury and everything else, it is right up there with Toyota. Even Toyota officials have begun to feel threatened.
