christian is a not very demanding religion, it doesnt include "rituals" as many other religions may have, it really doesnt affect one outside life so much, christians more or less do exactly the same as atheists: go to work, eat at mcdonalds, go on holidays, pay bills, go to buy useless things on christmas...So if the only difference is that christians pray to god (speak alone depending on the point of view), go to church (and that not even all of them), and read the bible...what does it really matter being christian or not?
the main difference is about what happens when one dies and this is something that we will never know. So whether there is hell or heaven or nothing or reincarnation or transmutation or transfiguration it is something that we will only find out when we die and since we are now alive it doesnt really matter all that much...come what may!

ok and? you have an experience with god others may think you have an experience with your own mind but apart from that we can be eating lunch at the same restaurant, being clients of the same bank and having the same kind of problems in paying our bills...so does it really matter at all whay you or i believe?

There is much more to being a Christian what you have stated. Someone who truely follows the will of the father will be transformed in every aspect of their lives. As the God teaches us through his word, when we choose to accept him as our Lord and savior we become a new creation. Yes we still pay our bills, eat, and all that stuff, but a person's life is so much more than these things. As Christians we should place the good of others above our own. We are to be meek and humble. We are to recognise that we are not perfect.
We don't always follow these things, after all no one can be perfect. The point is that we work with God to become closer to these goals in all that we do.
We can know now what comes after death. We can because the Author of all life and time has revealed it to us. Through this we know that we can spead eternity in Heaven if we accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and make him Lord over our life
You may say that we cannot know that the Bible is the truth, but there are ways to know, however it would take far too long to go into it here. I would gladly talk about it with you in another setting.

The only difference between the two is the insecurity that those poor Christians have.. I mean just imagine the inferiority complex you've got to have to believe an invisible man has carved out a list of rules that you're not permitted to see and if you break any of them you go to a magical place where you endure endless suffering for all eternity... oh ... and he loves you... and he's always broke :-( ... Can't leave church without someone sticking their hand out now can you!?
Peace be with you!

There are several real issues at hand. One is the attempt of various religions (Christianity is an example, but not the only one) to insert religious doctrine into civil affairs such as education. But the most significant problem is that religion pollutes the process of rational thinking: as soon as you start to credit or blame a god for doing something, you have abdicated responsibility for doing something right or fixing something that went wrong. And this can literally be deadly.

The difference is the authority that we Christians trust in. We also have a relationship with the one who created all things. If what that God who created all things was reported rightly, then it matters because those that believe in Him are going to a rather nice place after the dust settles.
The relationship I am referring to is the one that Jesus told us about in John 16. The Holy Spirit. And Jesus delivered on His promise to me. And so here I sit with the proof of God and the best I can do is tell people about it.
Why wouldn't God want me to show it to everyone? Because God does not want everyone, He wanted me and others that He picks.
So we don't have to wonder about the truth of it anymore. Everyone else wonders about it, but people like me don't have to wonder about it.
So what I am doing is telling you about it. The words that I have written are supported by scriptures, especially by what Jesus said: I can give you a whole list of them.
So it might not make much of a difference to others, but it makes a difference to those God chose. There is an influence that God brought to me when I was an Agnostic. I wasn't sure but I felt the pull every time Jesus was spoken about, especially later in life. And then, choosing to give it a chance instead of committing suicide, I finally trusted Him. And so it is to this day.

he's unfastened to assert it and if everyone seems to be bowled over and/or indignant they are unfastened to be that way additionally. As an atheist none of this bothers me, shocks me, offends me or perhaps interests me by using fact I haven't any difficulty with human beings expressing their opinion. "why are they so outraged?" Why are who outraged? Muslim countries? You placed up this as though someway atheists ought to have some specific reaction to it.

It only matters in the mind of someone who is under the control of a control freak.
Each of us should be allowed (within the bounds of decency and the law) to live our own lives in whichever way we think is best.

Erm because christians believe this garbage while atheists do not - simple answer. you cannot ask me to "act" like a christian just because you think we live similar lives.the difference is christians need their religion in order to live fulfilled lives. in my opinion, that makes them a very disturbed group of cultists that do not have the ability to live meaningful lives without outside influences, while atheists are happy with the lives they are given
