The definition in philosophy of "god" is the "un-caused first cause."
A being that was created cannot be a god.
God is eternal in His existence.

In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful
God is the light of the heavens and the earth. His light is as if there were a lustrous niche, wherein is a lamp. The lamp is inside a glass-globe. The globe is, as it were, a glittering star. The lamp is lit from the oil of a blessed tree -an olive - neither of the East nor of the West, whose oil well-nigh would shine forth even though fire touched it not. Light upon light! God guides to His light whomsoever He pleases. And God sets forth parables for men, and Allah knows all things hidden.
Holy Qur'an

God quite simply is the uncaused cause. He is the one who dwells outside of the space/time continuum and is thus has no beginning or end.
On another note, I have a question for the evolutionist. If everything came from matter and energy, where did the matter and energy come from? Hmm.... has it always been around? (will not matter over time decompose into energy which over time will be lost in space? 2nd law of thermodynamics) Second, how does life come from matter? As of yet there are no experiments that can demonstrate that life can possibly come from non-life.

God is self-subsisting and eternal.
"In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
Say: He is Allah, the One.
He is Allah, the Eternal,
Who was never born, nor ever gave birth.
The One beyond compare."
[Quran: surah 112 (Al-Ikhlas (Purity)) ]
"Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-Subsisting, Eternal. It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong).
[Qur'an 3:2-3]

God was here in the beginning - He is the Alpha, the Omega, the Beginning, the End - He is the Great I AM. There is no question about this - He is God - and that is all we need to know! Blessings.

If the Big Bang happened, what caused it? Where did it come from?
These things are above the mind of men and only God and his people in Heaven know how it all happened.
The only thing Christians can tell you about creationism is "In the beggining, God made the heavens and the earth."

the answer lies in the arguments for the existence of God, too big to fit on here:
look up in particular the ontological, cosmological and teleological arguments which state that everything is caused by something else and there has to be in sequence the first uncaused thing and that is God.

That is the eternal question, it can never be answered as much as we would like an answer.
It's a pity that this single question causes so much strife amongst people.

i have wondered that myself.... i asked my momma when i was a little girl, except i mentioned his mother having sex with his father... momma got really offended and told me that i wasn't supposed to fathom things about heaven and how all that stuff worked....
well that goes to show people that there is your answer.... if we aren't supposed to think about it. it is just a way to keep us from expanding our minds and figuring out the TRUTH. just a way of keeping us ignorant.... ITS A BUNCH OF BOLOGNA.

Your thinking in the physical limitations of time-space. God is eternal. He dwells in timelessness, that is, outside the physical restraints of space-time. In the Bible, this is paraphrased in the term "the First and the Last" or "eternity".
Isaiah 57:15
For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “ I dwell in the high and holy place,With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Do not look upon God as only limited to 4 dimensions. A tree is more than its trunk and branches, there are roots where you can not see that plunge beneath the surface of our reality. If we limit God to what we see or understand, we will miss the depth of who He is.
