toss it... go buy a new box..
my general rule is if it is in a sealed airtight bag or container then it is ok.. if it is in a box with no bag, as some pancake mixes are. then no more then 6 months..

The krusteaz site says their waffle & pancake mix lasts 24 months after the "Best By" date. I had to be sure it was bad because I don't like to waste and the mix I was about to use had a best by date of Jan. 2011

The mix can grow a mold that you can't smell but that will make you very ill. Throw any mixes away a month or so after the expiration date. Check snopes.com about this and you will learn that it is true.

check for a expiration date.if you cannot find one toss it out.it is not worth getting sick over.don't buy things if you don't plan on using them.it can make you very sick i read about this very thing i got in a email from a friend about a year ago.a lady made pancakes for her 16 year old son not realizing how long it was past the expiration date and he became very ill.just toss it.good luck.

if its unopened then go by the "sell by" date on the package. if its past that, throw it out! theres a reason for that label.

as long as there are no bugs in it, it's fine. it can last years - even after it's opened.
