God doesn't hate poor people. The reason it seems that these disasters happen to poor people is because they are effected most by the disasters. It's the rich man that hates the poor because they can't take the time to help the poor people out of the disaster area. Illnesses and lack of food isn't God's doing it is the rich man holding back on the poor man. Forcing the poor man to work multiple Jobs over 40 hrs a week and paying little and expecting the poor man to be able to afford his/her own medical care and still be able to buy food. There is no opportunity for the poor man to get on his/her feet to not have to depend on the government to help not because of God but because of the rich man. In today's society the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

I remember the following disasters off the top of my head - these areas were not in poor countries:

1906 San Francisco 7.9 quake (California)
1989 Loma Prieta 7.1 quake (California)
1964 Good Friday 9.2 quake (Alaska)
1992 Hurricane Andrew (Florida)
2005 Hurricane Katrina (Louisiana)
1995 Kobe, Japan 7.2 quake

The effects of earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, and other events are much greater in poor countries because their infrastructures cannot handle nature's wrath. Those countries do not have strict uniform building codes, etc. so more people die due to building collapses.

It has nothing to do with God.

God hates sin only People are capable of hating the poor. God Has no respect of person, social status, gender or race Acts 10:34.

The poor are in the earth to make sure that those who have, and have ben blessed with abundance by God to help provide for them. Matthew 26:11, Mark 14:7 and John 12:8. Jesus provided for the poor and said that if you mistreat the least of these, you have done it to Him as well. Matthew 25:40

God does not hate people, He is love...
When Jesus came, everywhere he went he fed people and healed the injured and sick.
Sin - has caused death, pain, sickness...and, it makes us poor in many ways. Economically, health wise, our families, our ability to learn... we have so many ways that we can be poor... BUT,
God tells us to hunger and thirst for righteousness...and, that He provides living water. We must seek Him - in order to find Him and be filled in an everlasting way.
Many things affect life. Earthquakes, hurricanes, disasters happen to the poor and rich alike. The sun rises and sets on us all. It is just that... a rich individual has resources in case a disaster does befall him/her that a poor individual does not...that is hence the terms: "poor" and "rich".
I live in a country that is wealthy, so I am blessed with many ways to get help when I have troubles. I consider it a blessing to have these things, but if I did not have them... I know I would feel "cursed". Learning contentment is obviously a terribly hard lesson to comprehend.

The Apostle Paul - said he did figure it out. He had times of plenty and times when he had nothing. I wonder how he was able to achieve the ability to feel that way. He said... he had learned to be content in all situations. He had the ability not to wallow in his own self doubts and self pity - and, be patient in all those situations.

I hope that you find some peace for your question. I personally feel you should do some soul searching about what makes you think that God would really hate poor people. I think about it a great deal because I have some things in my own life that are dreams... and, they seem perfectly reasonable to me, but for whatever reason...they have not come to fruition. I suffer in my heart about it. Personally - being subjective on the matter is how I view it most of the time, on an emotional level. But, it is important to back away - and see this objectively - to gain perspective. I want to be and act like a grateful person... I think that is very important.

May God bless you as you search this out in your heart.

God doesn't hate; He is incapable of such an emotion. As for poor people, if God chooses any segment over another, it is the poor over the rich; as it states in the Bible: "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven."
As for natural disasters, God made the earth and the Universe, He gave us life; what happens after that is what is supposed to happen no matter how awful or unjust it seems.

Disaster can have many meanings
1. Punishment for the sinner
2. Test for the believer
3. Reminder for the survivors and people who knows that disaster

If a disaster happened it doesn't mean that He Can Not prevent the disaster, but He made the disaster, for a good reason.
And not everyone can know, what is God's plans behind a disaster, only people has wisdom can know it

I'm Indonesian, stay Yogyakarta city, and it was an Earthquake in my city last year that killed more than 5.000 people. And also my house get damaged. but I never think God hates us, in contrary, I think God loves us.
The disaster reminded us that before the disaster, we always forget to thank to God. we didn't thank to our houses, our health, and many blessing that we didn't realize.
Many people get closer to God after disaster.
People who doesn't get disaster, remembers the blessing of God, and they thank to God because they don't get disaster, by giving charity to the victim.
It's great isn't it? when people help each other no mater religion they are.
God Bless us

Hey, don't say this, ok? It was prophecied that these things would occur. We had Hurricane Katrina a couple years ago right here in the richest country in the world, America, so it's not just the poor countries that disasters happen in, ok?

Keep focusing on spreading the good news of the kingdom and you will gain everlasting life and help to save those ones also who desire to hear the good news. We must continue to find the lost sheep who WANT to be found.

Don't blame God for the bad things "for with bad things God cannot be tried". (James 1: 12 - 15)

You are so narrow minded and a hypocrite. Natural disasters happen all over the world. The Hurricanes in the Florida Keys and up towards the Gulf of Mexico. There are Earthquakes Up the Coast of USA and Canada, there are typhoons and Tsunamis and Tornados and, there are Volcanos all over the GLOBE. GO on http://www.earthgoogle.com There are lands that are in severe drought. That hadn't had rains in months. or years even. They should move to places where there are more resources then...LEARN about your world a little more...Not just where you are...Get a book on Severe storms and natural DISASTERS from your local library.

NATURAL DISASTERS COSTS BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN INDUSTRIALIZED COUNTRIES....DO up some reasearch before you ***** about GOD.

MOTHER NATURE=FATHER TIME. You cannot control mother nature EVER.

I'm not a believer, but having read
The Bible, I can say that that goes
against what I've read: "The meek
shall inherit the earth." (Gee. That
doesn't sound like "hatred" to me;
or how about "God is love"?)
Besides, why should you think that
any person(s) who are well-to-do or
even very-wealthy cannot be just as
badly affected by an earthquake,
flood or hurricane?
No. According to what I'm aware of,
The Father, Son & The Holy Ghost
aren't into witchcraft--they are not
Harry Potty fans. And they certainly
aren't Muslims.
(But that's just my opinion, mind you.
If you want to tell me I'm wrong, then
be my guest.)
I just fail to understand where you're
getting your hypothesis, here.

wow, that would be nice to live in a disaster-free world, wouldn't it? as nice as in a sin-free society! earthquakes, hurricanes and disasters happen to all the world, not just poor. have you ever heard of Japanese earthquakes (the last time i checked it wasn't specified as a 3rd world country). what about the California? common, you can do better than that.
