My cat and I moved into a house w/ roomates a few months ago from an "only-us" apt. One of my roomates has a F cat (neutered) but that did not present a problem @ all. My roomate now, all of the sudden, claims she's allergic to cats, so I have to keep mine locked in my bedroom at all times and I work 2 jobs, so I'm hardly home...Funny enough, a couple of weeks ago, my roomate brought in a stray kitten to the house for a couple of nighs before taking it to her dad's. Once it came into my bedroom for a brief moment. For the past week or so, I noticed a big pee stain on my matress and a strong smell in the bedroom, so strong that it would give me a headache. I thought my roomate had brought in the kitten again and it was peeing on my bed. However, last night, when I came home, there was a fresh spot on my mattress & the only one in the room was my cat. I cannot figure out what is wrong with my cat - if she's upset or ill... I wonder if after we move out (will be soon), she will continue.

Cats are independent critters with definite personalities, and if you do something that annoys one of them, that cat will find a way to make his or her displeasure known.

It sounds like this is your current situation. After all, how would you feel about being locked up in one room all the time, usually alone and with nothing to do?

Assuming your roommate actually has an allergy, most animal allergies are from the dander. At the risk of further annoying your cat, you might try bathing it with a good pet shampoo. (Keep plenty of bandages ready.)

Remember that a pet is not a toy that you can put away when it isn't convenient. Your cat is a being with a personality and feelings. When you took on a pet, you took on a responsibility to consider that pet's needs when looking at living conditions. Perhaps another move is in order.

Cats dont pee because they are mad. They usually urinate outside of the potty box for a reason. Either they dont like the litterbox or something is hurting them when they go.

The most common reason for a female cat urinating out of the box is a urinary tract or bladder infection. You should have your vet run a urinalysis test. If your kitty DOES have a bladder infection, a simple course of the right antibiotics will do the trick. A simple bladder infection is not enough of a reason to euthanize your cat unless you let it go untreated.

Hope this helps.

And PS, it doesnt sound like your cat was "marking" its territory. The fact that she was peeing on your bed, the place that smells the most like you, tells me she is in pain and trying to find a place to eliminate that makes her feel safe and secure. Its her way of telling you something is wrong--that she is in pain.

Marking her territtory is she.! That's what she's doing because of the other cats. It a way of telling the other cats in the house that's her territory and for them to steer clear it belongs to her. And they had better keep their butts of her bed or else.

She's mad because she's trapped. Caged and doesn't understand. Once you get out on your own into a place where she can roam free and be queen of the roast again she will stop.
Might take a while but she will stop.

Yup...she is mad at you...she is not happy and very destress in your home....too much going on...if you move and it gets quieter..yes she will stop..You may want to include some extra cat toys and bedding in corner just for her when you move so she or he knows he or she is safe
