We are pretty sure it's a boy because of numerous sonograms, and a 3d ultrasound pic of only his balls lol. but thats what im thinking... "what if he magically turned into a girl or something?" lol.

PS thanks to all of you who are answering, I jnow there are bigger problems in the world, but my husband and I have this argument constantly! If anything, he only needs to wait 6 weeks! ugh hes so stubborn!

I would wait to make sure it IS a boy! They CAN be wrong.

Well, do you know for sure it is a boy?

I am having a girl, but I know for sure because I had an amino and it confirmed what the doctor said.

Or you could change the name for some reason. You may not think so, but last minute name changes happen all the time. Right now you have chosen the name Tom. But your husband's brother Roger dies right before Tom's birth so you decide to name him Roger instead in his memory. It happens all the time.

I would just wait until the baby is born. Tell him to do it while you are recovering. It will give him something to do while you are in the hospital. Also, knowing your husband went through a little pain around the same time is refreshing (just kidding).

I understand what the one person said about waiting a while after because the baby might die. Once the child is born and is lost, he would still want the tattoo as a memory so it is ok. If the tattoo is done right after your delivery date he will be happy when he gets it.

If the child dies then he can remember how happy he was when he got it.

I want to get a tattoo to as a memory of my best friend, but it is not the pain of the tattoo, but knowing that I would be thinking of her while doing it that stops me. I don't think I am ready to be thinking of her loss yet, while getting the tat. At least he will get it during a happy time. If it brings up pain later, I think that is better in the long run.

Also, if he waits until after the birth then he can put your son's birthdate, as well as, name on the tattoo.

If nothing else, this will make sure he never forgets his birthday.

Now if we could only tattoo our anniversaries, birthdates and other useful information on our men we would be all set...

I would definitely wait until the child is born. There is always the chance that it could be a girl. My cousin bought all girl stuff because the ultrasound said it was definitely a girl and surprised her when she had a boy and only had girl things. I think getting the tattoo is a great idea I'd just wait to be sure. My fiancee got a portrait tattoo of our son done. Congratulations and Best Wishes

Definitely wait until the baby is born before letting the dad get some new ink. Unless you've had an amniocentesis (ultrasound is not 100% accurate in determining gender) to confirm the sex of the baby 100% I would wait.

I would wait, you may decide to change the name at the last minute, I had a name picked out for my daughter but when I saw her she didn't look anything like the name I had picked and I ended up choosing something completely different. Another cute idea (don't know if he would want to though) When our son was born the nurse put his foot print on my husbands arm while she was printing him. My husband wanted to get it tattooed but didn't since he hadn't with our first born...it might be cool for him to do that though.

Definitely wait. If he wants to do it so bad, let him. But let him know if he pisses you off before the baby's born, you're changing his name. After all, the mother gets to decide in the hospital...lol. And also, when he's born, you may change it. I just had my boy and I had my heart set on a name, but when he was born, another name popped in my head and I had to go with it, I liked it. Especially since a few days before he was born, I met someone who had the name I was going to go with, and he was obnoxious and annoying... I didn't want to be reminded of him, lol.

I don't belive in luck. I just think that he should wait until the baby is born. I think that you should choose the name that fits the child best atfer he's born. What if it turns out to be a girl. Ultra sounds aren't correct.

I agree he should wait because anything could happen and me and some people I know think it's bad luck too if you believe in it and sometimes the doctor don't know if it's a boy or girl

Wait cause it could always end up being a girl, and even if it is a boy what if you decide at the last minute to change the name?

that's a neat idea
why doesn't he wait then he could have the nurse put the babies footprint where he wants to get his tat then put the babies name somewhere on the foot too
that would be so neat....and something that you too can remember for a lifetime...the feet will never too big lol
i meant have the nurse put the ink print of where he wants the tat then go to the tat shop and have them put the tat where the ink print is

I think it is a good idea to wait. Sometimes even when people have a name picked out ahead of time they change it when they see their baby for the first time.
