I just had the best 4 days, and most romantic..
First we went to a little Danish town called Solvang...you'll swear you've left the country... they have an indian casino there and I won $1500! On NICKEL slots!
We stayed at the Solvang Inn and Cottages. They have a nice pool, it's got great smelling Jasmine all around it, and it was $106 and very quiet. Sleepy town, but they have wine tasting and all kinds of bakeries. They have family movies in the park. Lots of walking around in the little swedish shops.
Then we went north to Cambria, just up the Coast and stayed at The Moonstone Beach inn. Little motel, very pretty, fireplace in the room, fridge, they provided robes, books, q-tips, just the little things... AND they serve you a continental breakfast in your room on a silver platter..You'd swear it was a bed and breakfast. That was about $160...They have a hot tub out front protected from the wind by clear glass and we drank wine and watched the sun set in it. They were VERY casual about check out "11 ish" is what she said... The hot tub closes.. "Oh whenever you turn into a prune"... They have a boardwalk that runs the length of the beach and there are lookout areas where everyone watches the sea lions and elephant seals sunning themselves on the beach..
Then back down the coast to Pismo Beach where we stayed at the Pismo Beach Hotel, which has a bar downstairs called Harry's and they have dancing and live rock bands there, and across the street is the Splash Cafe...FAMOUS for their Clam Chowder..(They sell it at sam's Club) there is usually a line around the corner, but call and order to go from the hotel and just walk across the street to get it. For breakfast you go next door for ham and cheese crepes... There is a pier and it's nice and warm right now..I don't remember the price because were got upgraded to a suite with a hot tub...
Try googling Moonstone beach Inn, they have pics.. (If you can't get a room there, try the Castle Inn, it was almost as nice and it had a pool.) The Solvang Inn and Cottages has a website too, but I could'nt fine one for Pismo... happy aniversary!

Las Vegas seems to be close to you. If you've never been, that would be a nice spot...and you don't have to gamble. See a show, have dinner, stay for a night at one of the nice hotels.
