They are simply words that do not appear in the original languages (Greek or Hebrew) ...but are added to the English translation to add to the meaning in context. It helps fill in gaps so that the English sounds better to modern ears.

They are italicized so you know that they were not words included in the original manuscript.

Your Bible should have an explanation of this in the front.

The words that are italicized are words that are not really in the original Hebrew or Greek text that the Bible was translated from. The italicized words are words that the translaters inserted so as to make the meaning of the book clearer, because it is harder to understand if you translate directly the words from the original text and have it make perfect sense, because things were said differently. Alot of times they added simple things like "of" and "and" or "the". But to make sure we know what words were actually in the original document, and what were added during translation, the translaters italicized the words they added.

Italicized words were added by translators to make the scripture easier to read and understand hopefully. The Forword in the front of your Bible should explain this to you.

I think because those are the ones that were added. If the word "Easter" is italicize, then it was added. It should have been "Passover" instead.

You might want to do a full search to why they are changed....just to be safe.

Because it usually is important, it's just something you have to think about, or it could reflect tone. I could say, "please sit down." several different ways, accenting different words, and it would mean something completely different each time.

"PLEASE, sit down." -exasperated
"please, SIT down" -comes off a bit rude
"please, sit DOWN" -comes off firm.
