Obvioulsy this story was written for a reason, people had questions. Therefore, I want to know what questions either the Hebrews or Christians had which they were seeking an answer through the story of Exodus?

The question the story of Exodus answers is Who will rescue us from the slavery of sin (Egypt). The answer is God himself, in the person of Jesus Christ. It is the same for gentile and Jew, male and female, American and other.

This is a Jewish story in the Old Testament...It is the story of passover and truly believing in God by following his laws in order to have his grace.

There is no physical proof that Israelites were ever slaves in Egypt, not to say that scholars couldn't still find proof...and I the Old Testament was not my focus in college, but I think that the question of how God will smite non-believers (up to the point of Jesus arriving on the scene anyways) is answered clearly in this story...

Is it possible that Exodus is a road map to "Self-realization" for human beings? Maybe to help human beings exit!

Genesis - How man entered creation!
Exodus - How man is to exit creation!

"Be in the world and not of it."

It's just a thought!
Thought provoking!

My suggestion is to read Madame Jeanne Guyon's commentary on Exodus and you will find the deepest answer to your question.
