The liver is a very important organ that has many tasks. Among other things, the liver is responsible for processing drugs, alcohol, and other toxins to remove them from the body. There is evidence that smoking alters the ability of the liver to handle these substances. In some cases, this may influence the dose of medication necessary to treat an illness. One theory, based on current evidence also suggests that smoking can aggravate the course of liver disease caused by excessive alcohol intake.

Smoking affects all body organs. The smoke and nicotine causes your vessels to shrink, this decreases the amount of blood to your cells. Including your organs. Your kidneys are very vascular meaning that they have many veins and are very tiny when these become damaged then you have kidney problems and can get very sick.
Don't smoke is BAD for you. Is a slow death.

Kidneys do not process nicotine so no, so much hyperbole about smoking. Yes smoking is bad it causes cancer you should stop if you smoke but no it is not going to affect you're kidneys. If anyone disagrees cite a source
Edit
thanks for the source Vanessa but as I read it and related articles they seem to be saying Smoking exasperates chronic kidney disease and interferes with medicines treating it. I can't find anything linking the in a cause and effect manner
