I woke up this morning and my throat hurts. It's not the normal kind of pain though, where the tissue inside hurts. It only hurts when I swallow. It's not a sharp pain or anything, just a dull ache deep in my throat when I swallow that's a little uncomfortable. Oddly, it doesn't really hurt when I eat just when I swallow saliva. What should I do? I usually gargle with salt water, but this doesnt feel the same as a normal sore throat. It doesnt feel as if salt water would even reach this part of my throat.

I don't have a stuffed nose or headache or anything, but a lot of my colds just start with a sore throat. I pretty much feel fine right now though, minus that pain in my throat.

sounds like you have a cold in your trachea. Right, salt water will not reach your trachea unless you aspirate it, which you don't want to do. You could try breathing in humidified air. It will go away in a day or two. I had one of these and it went away in about 3 days without ever becoming a cold like a normal sore throat does. Good Luck

Forget it kid you are going to school even if you have to crawl now your hands and knees puking all the way.

What well that was always what I was always told.!

Seriously sounds kinda like it might be your tonsils if you are having trouble swallowing. had plenty of that since never had my tonsils out.
But on plus side had a couple of doctors tell me my still having my tonsils was the reason I didn't have a weight problem.
Well actually they told my then wife that when she was complaining me being able to eat everything in the building plus the kitchen sink and never gain a pound. Where if she just looked at food she'd gain ten pounds. She'd had her tonsils out.
Could be some truth to that because seems like every woman I've dated the ones whose tonsils had been removed all had to battle a weight problem. The ones who still had their tonsils did not have any trouble with their weight.

I'd wait a while and check my temperature. If it's over 101, then you should see a doctor. If you're just getting a cold, you won't have a high fever. But if you do get a fever, definitely go to the doctor because it might be strep and you don't want to risk not treating that.

it is probably nothing. Could be strepp, could be a cold, but it is too early to tell. Take it easy, have an aspirin, get some rest and don't worry about it....and for the love of God, don't go to a doctor yet. They will treat you to death. Your body will fix it.

It sounds as though you may have swollen glands, do you have a cold, sinus infection?
Maybe you should make an appointment with your doctor just to be sure.
Best of luck
