The Swastika is banned, unless
- for historical and scientific research and education
- for non-politically, peacefully religious purposes

So Hindus ARE aloud to use it! As long there is NO connection to the the NAZI-Swastika.

They are not sadly as in their faith the swastika looks different and has a totally different meaning.

The German government now want to ban the swastika everywhere in Europe which has made Hindus very angry as it would interfere with them following their peaceful religion. It's not their fault that Hitler bastardised a symbol for peace and well-being.

Technically the Nazi swastika is at 45 degrees and anticlockwise. The Hindu swastika is upright at 90 degrees, and can be either clockwise or anti clockwise. So it is different to the Nazi one. It should not therefore be banned.

It is a little like the Barclays Bank eagle which had to be removed in Bournemouth because it resembled the Nazi eagle even though it was far older.

Yes, of course they are. To them it is not a symbol of Nazism but an ancient religious symbol that has nothing to do with Hitler or Germany.

It also appears in Japanese, Chinese and Korean art. It is not frowned upon there either because it likewise has no Nazi connotation.

NO. It's absolutely forbidden, unless it depicts a symbol against fascism (crossed out, for example). Anything else IS completely banned. If you're a Hindu - tough.

No, they are not. It's not fair, given that it was a symbol of peace for thousands of years before the National Socialists made it a symbol of hate, but the German government feels the ban is justified in order to avoid public displays of support of Nazism. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/6269627.stm
