I think sexual purity is important... I know the affect that premarital sex had on my own life... I wish i had understood why God wanted us to stay pure back when I 'was' pure... but i honestly thought that it was more of a 'don't get caught' type thing.
I wish i had been pure when I got married... and I wish that my husband had too....
just think... if people only ever had sex with their spouse and no one else... and only within marriage.... STD's would be wiped out in 1-2 generations... rather than going on and on and on....
I have taught my own kids about what it means to be sexually pure until marriage and what a wonderful thing it would be to share that one thing with only their marriage partner.

Well, I understand, or at least I understand what you have typed, although I scanned it.
I take the Biblical view regarding sexual purity. Check out all the New Testament. Not is it the correct view to have, it is the most safest and/or healthy view to stand with Aids, and other diseases passed on through illegal, as far as the Bible goes, and viruses, some incurable and/or deadly, through being passed on from others.
This is the chase so that is how I view it. Also Adultery has its payback, if not through sexual disease, other ways effecting life from jobs to procreation. Homosexuals are an abomination
BUT,
it is the sin and not the person that we should come down on and condemn. There are also other sins which are just as vial and all sin is a spiritual death sentence. There is more but I quit for now.

I think that once a person is mature enough to handle all the possible consequences of sexual activity only then should they commence in it. People mature at different ages so it will be different for every person. For those who wait for marriage by choice that's fine, but it is also a valid path to not wait as many, like myself, put marriage off into later years. My opinion is the same no matter what sexuality a person has.

I lost it a month before my 13th birthday. I won't say that's a generally good plan of action, but I don't think it was the end of the world. I appreciate the basically nonjudgmental tone of what you've said here, and I know you're really just saying what you think is best, and more power to you. But I don't think it's necessarily reasonable to expect everybody to be able to abstain until marriage, nor will society crumble if they don't.
I also think that it's more responsible to treat sex as a reality that happens, rather than some kind of unspeakable disaster that only the depraved involve themselves in, and to educate people about sex rather than trying to terrify them about it. "Abstinence only" programs do NOT work.
This species of thinking: "We MUST preach that sex is ONLY for marriage(one man + one woman)" - is nauseatingly hypocritical and slavish, and I can't denounce it in strong enough terms.

How about a real world compromise that acknowledges that people are sexual creatures and all or nothing positions usually don't work.
How about a real world solution that says that orgasms are fine to have providing that no intercourse ever takes place.
Sound good ?

I agree with your reasoning 100%. Bringing a child into this world is not something that people should take lightly. With birth control readily available and our ability to disseminate information to the masses, there should be no unplanned pregnancies.

I think you have very good principals; I agree on most of that. But I think anyone whom isn't married should not have sex of any kind; teen or adult.
I don't support homosexuality but like you, don't condemn the sexualy impure/immoral.
There is one part in the Bible stating pretty much everything sexualy immoral that you should not ever do.
Leviticus 18:6-24
6 " 'No one is to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am the LORD.
7 " 'Do not dishonor your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; do not have relations with her.
8 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your father's wife; that would dishonor your father.
9 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your sister, either your father's daughter or your mother's daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere.
10 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your son's daughter or your daughter's daughter; that would dishonor you.
11 " 'Do not have sexual relations with the daughter of your father's wife, born to your father; she is your sister.
12 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your father's sister; she is your father's close relative.
13 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your mother's sister, because she is your mother's close relative.
14 " 'Do not dishonor your father's brother by approaching his wife to have sexual relations; she is your aunt.
15 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law. She is your son's wife; do not have relations with her.
16 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your brother's wife; that would dishonor your brother.
17 " 'Do not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter. Do not have sexual relations with either her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter; they are her close relatives. That is wickedness.
18 " 'Do not take your wife's sister as a rival wife and have sexual relations with her while your wife is living.
19 " 'Do not approach a woman to have sexual relations during the uncleanness of her monthly period.
20 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your neighbor's wife and defile yourself with her.
21 " 'Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molech, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the LORD.
22 " 'Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.
23 " 'Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion.
24 " 'Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled.

We should live and let live...and let consenting adults do as they wish....
Now, we have too many ignorant straight folks popping out babies like candy...babies they cannot afford, babies they are not prepared for....babies that will be a drain on society, babies that will not be loved....people have to take a test and be licensed to drive a car...but, anyone can be a parent.

I don't believe that teaching solely abstinence is going to work. You need to teach safe sex as well. People are going to have sex no matter how much you lecture, preach, yell (etc...) at them-so we also need to make sure they are educated on how to avoid the major repercussions that arise from that as well.

well, regardless of whether they are mature enough to be having sex or not, teenagers are going to have it. That's why it's important to educate them on how to protect themselves
