No you are not allowed to bring in baked goods. I am Canadian and I tried to bring a bun from the airline (yes a bread bun) and the customs officer had our luggage searched and told me becuase of worries for the Canadian wheat crop, wheat products are not to be brought into the country unless they are sealed in an unopened box such as cookies.

To answer the basic grass roots question, without going into airline logistics of airlines and how fragile your particular cake is, YES. You can take cake into Canada from the UK. I've seen birthday cake sent in the mail so, for all I know you are checking it in luggage. But, I am fairly sure you could carry it on too. Just better to check with the airport you depart from for current security issues/restrictions.

Yes you can and I'm pretty sure you are allowed for carry on. At the airplane you may ask those stewardess to put in their freezer if they have room. I've seen people does those ,why can't you.

Maybe....but I would definitely check with your airline.
By the way, how do you think you are going to carry it on the plane? They won't let you keep it on your lap.
Better to wait until you get to Canada and buy one here.
